Hello everybody, a newbie question here.

I recently saw a set of Montblanc 146R Bordeaux with 165R pencil and 164R ballpoint set. Just wondering how much would be a reasonable price to pay for those.

Cheers,

Depends on the condition. The 146 is likely $300-350.00 but the ballpoint and pencil won't add much value.

I'm trying to find a 146R in Europe for slightly less. :)

Search for the bordeaux pen in eBay, filtered for SOLD listings only, and as jar says, for the pencil add a few dollars (say, $25-50) to what your search reveals. Condition means everything.

I was already factoring in the pencil and the ball point in the prices. The pen alone by itself would likely be a $200-250.00 item but as a set and if also with the box and papers I would price it closer to what I suggested.

I would pay that for a 146R in Europe :)

According to jar, it's actually about the same as the regular 146 if not less. Even though 146R Bordeaux is less common and out of production. That's interesting...

Used pens are usually worth less than current production pens.

I was comparing both with used prices not comparing a new 146 with a used 146R. I see 146 go from 250-300 or even higher. But from what you are saying the 146R should be about 250. Is there a particular reason behind this?

I see 146s and have sold 146s for under $250.00.

Just looked at a few sold eBay listings and a 146R (reddish resin) ranges from $230-440 for used and $525-950 for new. $200-250 seems like a normal price for a used 146 (black resin)

Is that for 146s with brass piston or resin piston?

I agree.

The Bordeaux MB sets / pens are gorgeous and I love the ones I am privileged to own.

Do your due diligence on the web and you will be fine in determining what price is fair.
