Hello it`s me again, hoping to take advantage of someone`s knowledge.

Having done a substantial amount of research on the internet I have discovered that a certain 45 model with a brushed stainless cap and chromed clip/barrel clutch ring is named a 45 Classic.
Apparently in 1969 a certain amount of these Classic models were made that became known as "Student" or "Happy Colours", because of the very vibrant colours they were produced in. ?????????
I have what I am wondering if is a 45 Classic Student/Happy Colours. It has the steel nib which apparently these models had. It has the brushed stainless cap and the chrome clip and clutch ring. The cap has 45 stamped/engraved on each side.
It is coloured Olive Green, which I am wondering might be one of the "Happy Colours".

Is anyone able to help me by confirming or negating my thoughts/hopes on this pen.

Many thanks, Regards.

A good picture would help.

Hi, Jarc,

I don't know if this will be helpful to you, but I've learned a lot from these two Web sites:

https://parkerpens.net/parker45.html

Thanks for your suggestions. I have checked both of these sites and cannot find an answer to the colours of the "Happy Colours"

A good picture would help.

An "old git" like me has enough problems attempting to use a computer, let alone do things like loading photos on to this forum.
I do have photos which I would willing add, if only I knew how to.
The pen only looks like any 45 Classic, except for the colour, Olive.

These posts from FPN responds to a question about the Happy Colors. Olive Green seems to be one of them.

Migo984, who posts on this list as well, names the happy colors as yellow, orange, mauve (pink?), aqua (turquoise?) and olive.

https://parker45pens...ss.com/colours/ certainly shows that 45 Classics existed in Olive colour, well we know they do as I acquired one recently. Research has shown that the "Happy Colours" aka "Student" were introduced in 1969. I can find no correlation between the colour and when it was introduced. May be I should consider my pen as a 45 Classic/Happy Colours/Student.

Many thanks for everyone`s help and input.

hello all - my first scribble, so hope all goes well:)............. sorry this post isn't exactly specific to the CLASSIC, but wanted to say that.............

My own experience in the U.K. seems to be that the 45 is possibly the most common Parker, with the Flighter appearing more often than the others as can be seen from my small collection.......... yet despite this I've yet to find a 'Happy Colours' pen. Of my nineteen pens one is U.S.A. - one is Oz. - one is France - one is U.K. - and the rest MADE IN ENGLAND.
Being ignorant of the manufacturing details of the Happy Colours pens, it occurs to me to wonder if perhaps my lack of them is due to their manufacture outside the U.K. - and I do scour many potential sources for such pens.
thanks for any feedback.:)

My UK experience is much the same. Of my 16 Classics/Flighters, all are Made in England except one which is Made in USA - and that is my most colourful one - a Turquoise as far as I can make out from the colour chart on parker45pens.com.

I really want an Orange!

thanks for that - I'd just like one - any one:) they remind me of some of the lurid colours of the British Platignum 'Varsity Pressmatics' from the 1960s - some of which appeared in a very loud yellow and bright turquoise, similar to these P45 colours. Oh, well just have to keep on looking for a Happy Coloured 45.

It's true to say that Parker 45 pens are regularly available on ebay. I bought one with a nice looking CI nib the other day, but have yet to receive it. Sadly it's not a happy colour, but just dark blue.

not quite sure why this thread was started in the Repair Forum - perhaps I missed something:)

Regret I don't know what a CI nib is - something perhaps to do with calligraphy??, and as you'd expect from a random sample of this model, medium nibs predominate, and oddly I seem to have a sprinkling of most widths - including EF.
If screw out nib units float your boat then the 45 would probably be for you, but bearing in mind the new cost of said pen, and considering that most of these 'modern' Parkers write like nails, then either the 25 or Vector would be a cheaper option, and I doubt the difference in writing ability would be noticeable. I picked up a 25 Flighter the other day for almost the cost of a pint of beer, and it writes like a dream.

Now of course the P45 is very collectible more for its appearance than its scribbling qualities, and you could probably collect scores and still not have two the same - if you had the shekels that is:)

Regret I don't know what a CI nib is -

I found out that a Parker C nib is a Fine Italic or Stub nib. I received it today and it's excellent. :)

Nice pen drawer. :)
