View Full Version : PILOT manual in Japanese -- need help finding model number

I was able to get some assistance with this. Looks like there is no model number, but the name is something like Pro-Tex, Pro-Tecs, or something similar. Without the last character, it becomes Pro Tech. Definitely not marketed to the USA, based on all I've seen. It's a shame they didn't, and the price didn't look to be a problem. I guess this is another one of those exclusivity things some Japanese companies are known for -- make a special variation for the Japanese market only, as something to set them apart from the export version.

I have a PILOT mechanical pencil that has no model number/name marking on the body or on the box. But it came with a manual that has explicit instructions for it. I'm wondering if there is a model number or name somewhere on this. Can someone who understands Japanese take a look and let me know? Click on the thumbnails to open larger images.

Yes, Protex is basically right. It looks to be a play on "protects" because the pencil has a mechanism that retracts to protect the lead when it's not being used.
