Just made a new cork disk for polishing pen nibs. Cork is a pefect base for pre-polishing metal. Many years ago when I was an active knife maker we always used cork for pre-polishing - especially - hollow ground blades

Have a great pen weekend

So were you a bladesmith?

Yes, from 1980 to 1988. Everything was hand made but then CNC was introduced and this trade was over, unfortunately.
At that time digital cameras didn't exist yet but I have some pictures of one of the knifes I still have

Fortunately at least on this side of the pond there seems to still be a market for true bladesmith items. Granted, it is in may ways similar to what you do in pens. While I am certainly not a bladesmith I do have a few samples from some makers from the US as well as around the world. Among my favorites are the works of Terzuola and Kit Carson, the Pardues, the Crawfords, David Brodziak and Peter Marker from Australia, Larry Mensch and Luman and Gilbreath and Barr and "Whiskers" Allen and Ralph Bone.

There were so many knife shows around the world at that time and a number of very potential collectors who pushed the prices up.
Some top makers (I am more familiar with European makers) still exist among them Dietmar F. Kressler http://www.kresslerknives.com/kuenstler.htm with his fabulous Bowie knifes or Johan Gustafsson http://johanknives.com/about.php
