Howdy,

Something odd - I just received an m805 in the mail and prepared to ink it. The piston assembly appeared to be black when the knob revealed it.

I had a black m805 previously. This pen's knob turned to reveal a metallic silvery piston. This one has a similar weight distribution as the other I had.

Looks like pelikan coats this part black nowadays?

I remember reading elsewhere that the anthracite M805 has a black coloured nut but it is still metal...let me see if I can find the thread.

Here it is: http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/292713-m800-piston-threads/

Nothing to worry about :)

Haha yes, I reassured myself by giving it an innocuous scratch with a push-pin, which revealed the metallic sheen below.

Just had a bit of a spook since I'd read horror stories of knockoffs with plastic assemblies. Phew.

Thanks for the post!

There are no effective knock offs of Pelikan m805 pens. It would be too expensive/time consuming to make the striated bind.
