The Mare is a Limited Edition of Aurora’s top-of-the-line Optima in a simply gorgeous sea blue auroloide with gold trim and a hard to find 18K gold Italic nib.
The pen is piston filled with an ink capacity in excess of 1 ml. A clear ink window allows the user to determine when ink level is low. Like all Optimas, this pen features Aurora’s “Hidden Reservoir” system. When the pen seems to run out of ink, twist the piston knob open and you get enough ink to allow you to write another page or so.
The pen measures approximately 5 inches capped and 6 1/8 inches posted. It has been very lightly used and is complete with original boxes and papers, including the unopened bottle of ink.
The original List Price of this sold out Limited Edition was something like $800 and Aurora now charges extra for gold trim and Italic nibs, but you can do far better buying this very lightly pre-loved pen that looks pretty much like it did the day it left the dealer.
$450 plus $20 shipping within US.
Nib can be changed to 18K Broad or Broad ground to Stub if the buyer wishes.
