So my wife got me a wonderful early Father's Day Present! It is this Parker Vacumatic from 1937!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170617/01602f93841f039ffa2fd7de83e27734.jpg The trouble is it writes a bit irregular and after a few minutes, the feed seems to collect an excessive amount of ink and it has a tendency to drop in the page. It seems the nib isn't getting the ink that the feed draws up. Any feedback on issues or similar problems with older pens?

It probably needs a new diaphragm. A restoration should run around $30 to $50 or so. The Vacs need it about every ten to twenty years.

If the diaphram was not replaced by the seller, I would plan on replacing the diaphram.
Then you can be more confident about the pen not leaking for about 10 years +/-

Quick check of the diaphram.
- remove cap and the blind cap.
- put a tissue over the nib, to catch any spurting ink from the next step.
- put the back of the pen in your mouth, and BLOW.
- - If you can blow, the diaphram has a hole or worse, and needs to be replaced.
- - If you cannot blow, the diaphram might be OK. But, it could be VERY OLD and it may fail next week.

Second time this week I have heard that, trouble is that the first time was at the doctors.

Lovely pen, my favourite. I would actually stop using it until it is repaired. Loads of people to chose but one of the best is Danny Fudge

I agree in recommending Danny Fudge. A master.
