I have a slip cap MB fountain pen that is the same size as my MB 163 rollerball. Do any of the experts here have any idea what model this is? Thanks in advance...

Pictures might help but most likely a 144.

Thanks, will try to get a picture up. This one uses cartridge or converter.

Yes. The modern MB 144 was a slip cap skinny cartridge converter pen with a gold band at the end of the section that always gets worn and corroded.

Is the nib a monocolor gold nib?
If so, it's most certainly an older 144. I have one from the early '90's that matches that description.

Almost certainly a 144 C/C pen, with a slip cap and the gold band next to the nib that always corrodes as jar said. Like the ring on this one (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Montblanc-Meisterstuck-144-in-Two-Tone-14K-Gold-Fine-Nib-/222650926722?hash=item33d7078682:g:ivoAAOSwfCZZwda I) has

In the revised MB 144 design, the ring at the tip of the section screws in to the section, instead of the earlier adhered design. So, the new revised design won't pull off of the section and fail to hold the cap on as before. The new ring resists corrosion. I have a couple of these pens.

That's good to know. Is there any way to tell which one is which from a picture? :)

Yup +1 for MB144 with slip cap.

If the pic shows the section unscrewed from the barrel, the newer one with the screw in ring has metal section threads. As far as I have found, anyway.
