Nice pen! Where do you source your silicone sacs from, and why did you use one in this pen?

I buy silicone sacs from http://www.woodbin.ca/
I use silicone sacs for quality reasons. It is stronger and has a much longer lifetime than rubber. Another reason is that rubber has a bad influence (discoloration) on old celluloid. Rubber sacs may be more 'original' but a new sac is a new sac and an internal part. So I find it is justified for restoration. In pens I restore for collection purposes only (i.e. these will not be used for actual writing) I do not mount a new sac at all. When I started refurbishing / restoring old pens I mounted new rubber sacs, only to see that they were deteriorated again after a few years. So I only mount a new sac in pens I expect to be actually used again, by myself or a new owner, and in that case I prefer silicone.

Gotcha!

That makes sense. I wouldn't worry about discoloration of a black pen, but putting a sac that'll last forever in makes total sense.

I'm gonna PM you about this pen!
