Just like last year, I get to spend a few days in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. A nice respite from the Texas Summer.

First off, a couple shots from the famous Lombard Street, my daughter of course didn't remember the first time she visited this place when she was 2 y.o. Now a teenager, she was soaking the experience.

It is that steep:

Then we went to the Yosemite National Park the next day:

Reminds me of an A. Bierstadt painting:

And after some climbing on the slippery stones:

After a brief rain, the clouds are amazing....

Glad you had a nice visit to my adopted home town.

Yosemite is incredible... Even with the waterfalls thinned by the drought.

Love San Francisco. Lived in Modesto California for a couple of years in the early 70s. Went to San Francisco a lot. Now live in Texas

But what a bummer that you couldn't make the visit THIS week and come to the SF Pen Show!!

Jon, that is always a bummer for me. School started yesterday for my daughter, so that means we have to be back in Texas this week. :(

I didn't even want to bother the PenPosse gang because I knew I won't have time to visit with them due to my travel schedule, *and* I don't want to distract them from preparing for the SF Pen Show.

Beautiful shots, Will.

Yosemite is definitely one of my top 5 favorite places on Earth. When I was in school in San Francisco, I would take weekend trips to a little hostel outside the park called the Yosemite Bug. Great little place with no cell service. I could just disappear for a weekend, relax, hike, eat some good food, and take in the beautiful nature.

I wish, Jon, this time we're in such a hurry that I didn't even get the time to enter the Ansel Adams gallery there at the park. :(

This was me channeling AA back in 2010 with my Burke & James 8x10 camera. That thing is 40 lbs. easily.

penwash - Your images are truly stunning. Love B&W - - Wonder if there's an iPhone ap that would allow b&w images? (Just kidding - about the ap, that is). Years ago Agfa offered 35mm film in b&w. Still have some in the freezer, although whether it's still good, or can still be processed, is anyone's guess.

Thank you! If the film is stored in the freezer it can be processed. Just use a modern developer like Ilfosol, which will reduce the grain and combat fogging.

Me, I love big grains and contrast, so I use Rodinal even on ancient, super-outdated films :D

Indeed, yet Saint Ansel used one on top of his wagon all the time :)

I found some HP5+ which had lived in a box over my wardrobe for a couple of years in this house, in the warmest room in the house (no aircon, so high to mid 20s in the summer). It was absolutely fine.

Just warm it up slowly (24 hours in the fridge, then take it out a good few hours before you shoot it to avoid condensation inside your camera [emoji15])

Let us know how it goes!

The next day we went to Carmel-By-The-Sea, where guess what... there is actually one real pen store which is called Bittner.
I recognized the proprietor because he and his wife had been to the Dallas Pen Show last year.
He was busy with a customer, so I didn't want to bother him, besides I'll see him again next week at the show.

That day, the whole city were having this exotic cars pageant day, everywhere you see cool cars parked on the streets. I like this one in particular:

... or passing down the road:

And of course, people:

Finally, I'll close with a lucky shot from my daughter (she still have a lot to learn about photography):

penwash - You said your daughter still has a lot to learn about photography (don't most of us?). From the pic you posted, I would say your daughter may well have something to teach about photography. A very nice shot, indeed.

I'm a little taken aback by you calling your daughter's picture "a lucky shot. " maybe she knows more than you think.

EoC, glad you enjoy them. No promise is broken since this is not about fountain pens :)
I'm just joking, your comments are welcome regardless as far as I'm concerned.

Robert, I taught her to use prime lenses, no zooms.
She would learn how to compose better, within a single focal length constraint.
For now, she was till grasping the concept, that's why I call the above her lucky shot :)

I don't think you'll be taken aback if I post her other shots :D

Lovely Photos. I like all your B&W series too. I do lot of Medium fomat and Analouge photos and Love the large format photography. That's the true and real sprite of photography I missed in most of the time.

Top one reminds me of a similar one by Ansel Adams. Both are nice
