Wow! What can anyone say except WOW!

The Danitrio Mikado is a sizable eyedropper filled pen that holds an absolute ton of ink. I am not real familiar with Danitrio naming conventions, but this pen is the round top version in a beautiful wine colored urushi on ebonite body similar to what Nakaya calls Aka Tamenuri. The gorgeous look is further set off by the hand lettered gold and red Kanji on the section that I assume is the name of the artist who hand finished this pen.

The Mikado features a massive 18K gold Bock #8 Fine nib that writes beautifully. The eyedropper design incorporates a “valve” that allows the user to increase and decrease flow of ink to the nib. This piece has no clip to interrupt its beautiful lines, not that anyone is likely to carry a pen this size in their shirt pocket.

The Mikado measures approximately 164 mm capped and 143 mm uncapped. Despite this formidable size, the pen weighs a mere 42 grams capped and is super well balanced. I have included photos of the Mikado next to a Pelikan M800 in the pictures posted below.

The pen writes and looks great, with only one light scratch on the body. It is supplied in a lovely black piano finish Danitrio box that does show a bit of wear, with some inevitable light scuffs on the top, a minor pinpoint drop or two of ink on the velvet inside, and the ribbon that holds the pen in place detached at one end.

You can see a full video review of virtually the same pen (different nib and with clip) by SBRE Brown at this URL:

I believe the regular price for this pen is $1800 if you can find one. You can save a bunch buying this lightly pre-loved piece.
