Repairing 2000 nibs yourself

Has anyone else had luck with this? I dropped my pen recently (it landed nib-down, of course) and managed to get the ~35 degree bend and twist out of the nib using only my fingers and the end of a headphone jack to flatten out the tines (placed nib upside down on table)--it writes well, although the flow and feel are different (more generous flow and a more pencil-like feedback). What made this possible, of course, was the disassemble-able nature of the 2000. I am surprised by the result, considering I didn't use a loupe.
