The Danitrio Densho model in Kuro Keshi finish is a throwback to the prized Danitrio raw ebonite pens of the past which became cult classics, but this one offers a critical improvement.

In the Kuro Keshi treatment, the raw ebonite body is polished slightly and then painted with a thin coat of urushi to prevent the ebonite from oxidizing, leaving a beautiful matte black finish that feels wonderful in the hand. This treatment is no longer available from Danitrio and is very difficult to find anywhere.

Nib is an 18 K gold (western) Medium with the prized Danitrio “Fireball” design. It is one of the smoothest writers in my collection and is a pleasure to write with. A writing sample is posted at the end of the pictures below.

Densho is a sizable eyedropper filled model that utilizes a valve mechanism operated by the blind end cap that allows the user to control the ink flow to some degree or even to shut it off completely, such as to prevent ink “burping” if the user travels on an airplane. Fit and finish on the pen is so good the separation between blind end cap and pen body is almost invisible unless the blind end cap is opened. The pen measures approximately 5 7/8 inches long capped and 5 ¼ inches long uncapped with a barrel diameter of about 9/16 inches. It is just a bit larger than a Pelikan 800, as pictures below display.

This eyedropper filled pen holds a ton of ink – I unofficially measure capacity to be between 2.5 and 3 ml.

The pen has been very lightly pre-loved. I do not have the box. Last list price I could find posted by Danitrio was $1000.

$595 plus $15 Insured shipping in US.

Shipment outside US may be available at cost. Please inquire.
