Hi,
I'm new to the forum, I have been in read-only for a while, but I have a question :P
I've seen this M800 online, and I'm wondering how much would it worth with that "magnificent" engraving on it...

I think that this Pelikan M800 should worth around $250, more or less. I can't stand the pen with engraving.

Thanks John,
I not a fan of engravings either. I have a MB146 with a name on it's cap, but it is nicely done, so that is ok. The one above is a bit less attractive...
This M800 goes for about $135 right now.

At that price I would not care about the engraving.

An M800 that works for $135 would be a great deal in my book. I wouldn't care at all about the engravings. :D

The pen is here!!!
And it is a M600....I did not ask for the size of it that's true though....silly me.
The seller tried to identify it from picture only.
Despite this, the pen is nice. I think I'll ask for a little money back and we'll make a deal.

Awww.. that stinks. $135 for an M600 is still a good deal, just not a GREAT deal. Hopefully it gets resolved for you.

Worst case scenario, I believe printhardcopy from eBay sells replacement caps for several Pelikans. If I remember correctly he sells the new logo M600 caps for around $100 or so.

Thanks Pensfan! I saw the ebay listing for the cap and I'm thinking about it.
The engraving looks better in real life though, the photos did not make it justice.
I'm now asking back ~$25, I hope it will be okay for the seller. He made the mistake anyway....

Just count yourself lucky it's a financial bank and not a bodily fluid one... Sorry, can't resist. :)

Why not ask Chris Burton of Custom Bindes whether he can help.. You might end up with something awesome and still under..

Thanks for the advice Tony. I'll take a look at Chris Burton's site :)

I thought that for the most part, engravings would lower the value. But for me, I like the Heimsoth logo on my dad's MB 254. http://www.ebay.com/itm/300913107284?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2648

MB did or whoever did a real good job of making the logo flow with the rest of the pen.

I'm trying to train my eye to do this reliably, but you can actually tell the size of the pen by looking at the nib (double ribbon - M1000, logo size - different for M800 / 600 or 400). But it gets difficult to differentiate an M600 from M400 (aside from the 18C M600).
Or maybe it's because i don't collect those pens so don't have enough samples to analyze :)
