A few weeks ago I received my first Nakaya Neo Standard in Heki-Tamenuri from nibs.com. I am so thrilled with this pen. The feel and nib were amazing. I instantly saw why so many have been bitten by the Nakaya bug.

The Nakaya is simple and understated, yet the feel of the craftsmanship can be sensed. As I started to use the pen as a daily writer, I noticed that the cap final was a bit off. I understand that these are completely hand made by men almost 2 times my age so I'm not complaining. None the less, it was a expensive purchase and I wanted as close to perfection as possible.

So with some input from others, I decided to send it back to Classic Fountain pen for adjustment. I made 1 call to them and there was no issue, I was told to send it back and they will make it right. I did and 1 1/2 weeks later I received it back and the final is seated a perfect as can be. I'm not sure why this was missed during inspection but the issue was resolved, no questions asked.

FYI - for the brave, there is a screw inside the cap which will loosen the cap final, there were a few people from my old post, who did loosen the screw to tweak the placement themselves. I was not brave enough to do it this time....

I'm so glad your beautiful Nakaya came back perfectly adjusted! Heki-tame is so pretty--I love the pop of color on the threads. My first Nakaya was a heki-tame Decapod cigar and it is still my favorite tamenuri finish. I like the unpolished shu better but only marginally. Which nib did you choose?

I'm glad to hear that your pen is fixed and back in your hands. Better to have it adjusted than have that nagging little misalignment affect your enjoyment of the pen.

So glad to hear it came back quick and is everything you wanted it to be.

LOVE mine too... that color combo is so sweet and the color pop just shows off the workmanship so well.

Bump on nib selection ......

I went for an unaltered medium. It's great for note taking. My naka-ai will be a medium stub, but seriously considering a broad stub. I'm not sure the medium stub will be wide enough. I only recently gotten into stubs but I'm hooked. I'm going to have to break out a caliper to measure the line with of my other stubs.

Heki-Tamenuri is a very lovely finish - - - I have a Mini-Decapod in that color.

Such a lovely color. I fought hard on whether or not to get the heki-tamenuri or not on mine. In the end...I flipped a coin on which finish.

That's alright, Flake. You will end up with one of each in time. Just you wait... :dance3:

Agree. To me the brown and green speak of Japanese culture. The green for the green tea and the Japanese gardens and the brown in the craftsmanship in woodworking. Once I saw this I knew this had to be my first.
