This pen....
I am not a Vacumatic collector, but I have two because of their nibs. One of them is exactly like this one (color, clip, triple bands, locking plunger), but I know nothing about it. What can you tell me about this pen (and mine)?

What is your date code? In case it is hard to see, this one is 45. Note the orientation on this code.

I have a nice dark brown/black 1946 in good shape with a lousy gold plated nib. But no tassie (is that what you call it?). I assume you are looking for something to match, as opposed to a new body for your nib though?

What is this model called?
Alas, the blind cap on mine shows some tooth action.

Full of Aurora black ink at the moment.

Fred,
Depends on length and diameter. Mine is a factory demonstrator, if I recall correctly it was a Standard size. the slot goes all the way through the section and there was likely never a nib. Pen came from a Janesville connection.
It seems that the date code mentioned is always the wrong direction.
Yours might be a bigger pen than mine.

THANK YOU! What a great resource for the Vac novice! Looks like mine is a standard, or maybe a senior, or maybe a slender or maybe not. <sigh!>
I'll measure it again tomorrow.

But the barrel clarity is amazing on that one. It's almost as if I can look at the ink directly.

You could almost reach in and touch it!

And here I thought it was the Parker prototype "Pour-o-Matic" filler, doing away with all those silly moving parts.

Cut away demonstrators do tend to avoid ink staining and off-gassing.

I thought that I was.
The humor, in my mind, started with Parker, back in 1935, when they cut a "viewing" window in a transparent pen! The irony for modern day collectors is that such "nonsensically" butchered pens remain eternally clear because they are forever unusable (other than as an artifact), while most functioning examples show the increasing effects of ink and sulfur compounds. I thought that I had alluded to that in my post.
That a Vac with a hole in the side doesn't hold ink... Not much I can add to that.

Yes, it will hold ink.
You just have to stop moving it around. And by 'around' I meant at all.

I have a Vac; I have wasted hours on it - it is a Canadian lock down model with flexible arrow nib. It could go for a moderate sum
It is a golden stripey job like yours.

"She looked at the nickel, she looked at me,
She said, kind sir, it's as plain as can be,
There's a hole in the nickel and it goes right through,
Said I, there's a hole in the donut, too."
