Or, 'fat boy.'

I was lucky enough to get one waayyy back when, from a deluxe art supply catalogue. They're weirdly fat little pens with a very nice nib.

I just found one for sale on fleabay while browsing, and I hope it's okay to bring this up. I'm not the dealer, have no idea who dealer is, just stumbled on this and I like this pen. If not okay will remove link.

If you like oddball pens, the Zoom is a must. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Tombow-828fp-828-fp-Zoom-Egg-Fat-Boy-FOUNTIAN-Pen-/350779505319?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51ac167aa7)

How is Tombow related to Platinum? It looks like the same nib, general shape/size as my Platinum Glamour.

The Platinum Glamour has a damaged nib. :( (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ivan_romero/8555318204/) by IvanRomero (http://www.flickr.com/people/ivan_romero/), on Flickr

Here is a closeup of the nib and you can see the chip on the right tine. Plating is also worn.

I ended up grinding it to a stub and now it flows perfectly.

Platinum Glamour with the chipped slit now fully operational with a ~1.2-1.5 mm stub. Freshly ground nib. Writing sample to follow (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ivan_romero/8686418821/) by IvanRomero (http://www.flickr.com/people/ivan_romero/), on Flickr

I purchased a second one NOS and like using it.

Lol, now THAT is a stub upon a stub. Kewl.

Aways happy to meet a strange quirky new pen.

I have no idea how or if Tombow is related to Platinum, but my Zoom has a great nib, wet and smooth right out of the box.

There have been such 'fat' pens made in Japan for a while. At first, or maybe still, they were for arthritic hands.

Yeah, I have seen those huge fat pens that are usually eye droppers in ebonite. They are quirky but fun. My NOS Glamour is also smooth pretty fine nib. I just don't like the cartridge fill even if I like small quantities of ink. It takes a bit to get to the nib even after squeezing the cartridge a bit to get it going. I tried one of my super mini converters in it and it's too big for the pen. :(

EDIT:

I forgot the writing sample on the stub'ed Glamour
