Considering the current and ongoing state of FPN, I'm afraid my guess is Never.

Okay, okay. 7 Dec 9999 @ 12 noon. Of course this will be a new FPN created by sentient beings from the planet Betelguese. They will conquer the earth on 6 Dec of the same year and, being godly in their intelligence, will immediately recognize the superiority of the FPN model and resurrect the site. Of course the new site will crash shortly thereafter due to being hacked by the Glogs of Blue - a group of virtual terrorists dedicated to life, liberty and the pursuit of yellow highlighters (they are colorblind and don't realize the yellow highlighters are not, in fact, blue).

I meant, FPN would be back up under a minute from the time everyone came back here to check who won the sweepstake.

It was a meta-estimate on my part, which means I win no matter what :D

Ooh...gettin' close...they're "70% done" rebuilding topics as of 25 minutes ago.
Exciting!!

This is killin' me...

"May 03, 22:00 GMT/UTC - 18:00 EDT: Rebuilding topics 90% done. Database backups copied. Member accounts etc. to rebuild still."

Still? STILL?!

I considered writing a script that would constantly monitor the active content section of FPN and automatically post the exact date and time of the first new post in this thread. That would not be very sporting however, so here's my uneducated guess:

2013-05-05 13:45:00 UTC

Good for you!
But wouldn't that only tell you the time of the first post? The contest would've ended by then, because entries to this thread after would be invalid.

PSmith

Ah yes, now I've noticed the additional rule in the small print.

I suppose that posting here, immediately after relevant content is detected on FPN, would have to do then. Subsequently, in order to end the competition asap, the script could also create a new thread on FPN, just in case the FPN members are a bit slow off the mark. Perhaps a thread called "What's This Staples Sugarcane Stuff Everyone Is Talking About".:)

The way they have been going, this is probably too optimistic, but what the heck:
08:25 GMT on 6 May

If you change the paper to a sugarcane stick, we can send it to the fpn admin to suck and help sweeten the blow of being down for so long. ;)

Well I'm certainly not to going to disagree, am I? :)

My goodness, this is turning into a spectacularly good pen weekend. Finally managed to ink up my new pen (don't ask, but the barrel had pretty much welded itself to the section), and some ink samples arrived. And now, it looks as though I may have a new type of paper to try. Woo boo!

Thank you for your most generous prize. Fountain pen people are so generous the world over.

The package so generously provided by Manny has finally been released from it's stay in customs, and arrived with me during the week. All that I can say is that I am extremely jealous of you lucky people that can obtain this paper. Staples UK - listen up, we want it!
