Hi Judybug and welcome to the FPG forum.

Plaquemine now that is an interesting sounding place name.

Plaquemine is a Native American word for persimmon. They say there used to be so many persimmons trees here that they called the town Persimmon City. Don't know what happened to all the persimmon trees - I wouldn't know one if I bumped into it.

Welcome welcome.

Thanks for the history lesson on the origin of the word. Of course I had to look up and see which Native peoples (Atakapa) those were.

My nephew drives a pedicab down in New Orleans and he plays drums in some wild sort of psych-surf band there too.

Some of my first fountain pen purchases were from a dealer outside New Orleans just a few years before Katrina. A Pelikan 600 and a Platinum Armor, as I recall.

One of the big bike rides I dream about is from New York down to New Orleans. Ought to be a lot of interesting country along the way!
