I was working on a pen and set it aside for a while then came back to it last night. I thought I removed the old j bar to replace it with a new one. However I didn't and I inserted a new one now I think they are tangled up and I can't seem to get them out. Any suggestions ?

Pour some talc in the barrel, that will lessen the friction between anything in there including the tangled up J-bars.

Then fish it out using a dental tool that has a flat/skinny hook at the end.

I don't know anything else to suggest other than be patience and don't get frustrated.

Small forceps are useful for working inside barrels and they dion't cost much.

You could become the first pen repairer that uses a borescope. (https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=borescope&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aborescope) Hey, they cost less than a lot of pens, especially if you use a smartphone. And you can share images of the tangled mess with us!
