Condition (n.b.): Pens listed below have been fully disassembled, cleaned, and restored with new diaphragms in the past couple months. Each is guaranteed to fill and write as designed without leaks or other issues. These pens have no chips, cracks, personal engravings (except #2), missing parts, bent nibs, misaligned tines, or threading issues.

1. 1946 Parker 51 Vacumatic (Cedar Blue, sterling silver cap, plastic plunger vacumatic filler, 14k firm EF/F nib). Measures 5 3/8” capped. This pen features the elegant sterling silver cap (as marked) with chevron band that was carried over to the 2nd-3rd gen Vacumatics. These caps were relatively soft (compared to, say, Lustraloy) and are almost always found with multiple dents/dings. This one is nearly flawless – the nicest I’ve ever sold in fact. The 14k nib lays down a smooth and consistent EF/F line (depending on the ink, see writing sample). Condition: No discernible brassing, deep, fully legible imprint and date code, sharply pointed jewel, and smooth, lustrous finish with no deep scratches. A collector-grade example.

Price: $175 $165 SOLD

2. 1943 Parker 51 Vacumatic (Cedar Blue, 16k gold –filled cap, plastic plunger vacumatic filler, 14k firm EF nib). Measures 5 3/8” capped. Firm 14k nib lays down a smooth and consistent EF line (see writing sample). This one is well suited for someone looking for a workhorse pen with the characteristically large ink capacity, durability, and convenience of the 51, but who doesn’t mind a couple blemishes. Condition: Small, heat-stamped personalization to the barrel (“Anna Guilfoyle”), a notable 1/4” scratch to the blind cap, and a couple of pin-sized dings to the cap under close scrutiny. All the same, the cap is cleaner than most with no serious dents or flaws. No brassing to the trim, sharply pointed jewel, smooth lustrous finish, and lighter yet still fully-legible imprint and date code. A solid writer at a reasonable cost.

Price: $110 $100 SOLD

3. 1946 Parker 51 Vacumatic (India Black, 14k gold–filled cap, plastic plunger vacumatic filler, 14k firm EF/F nib). Measures 5 3/8” capped. Firm 14k nib lays down a smooth and consistent EF/F line (depending on the ink, see writing sample). I discovered this pen collecting dust in a mismatched factory box. It appears to have been inked once or twice, then stowed away. Condition: The 14k gold-filled cap is flawless, with no dents, dings, or other appreciable wear. No brassing to the trim, factory-deep imprint and date code, sharply pointed jewel, and smooth, lustrous finish to the barrel with no major scratches. 70 years old and still like-new.

Price: $145 $135 SOLD

4. 1946 Parker Vacumatic Major (Golden Pearl, GPT, plastic plunger vacumatic filler, 14k semi-flex F nib). A full-sized 3rd gen Vacumatic, measuring 5 1/8” capped. Semi-flex 14k monotone Vac Arrow nib lays down a smooth and consistent F line and flexes to a B under moderate pressure (see writing sample). Ink level visible in transparent striations of barrel. Condition: No brassing to the trim but for a superfine sliver to an edge of the tassie observable under a loupe, deep, fully legible imprint, decent transparency (see detail photo), and and smooth lustrous finish to the barrel and cap. There are some tool marks to the underside of the section. Two fins have chipped off the feed, and there is some unnevenness to the top of the nib that is noticeable when the light catches it right. Both the feed and nib flaws are purely cosmetic, having no discernible effect on the performance of the nib. These have been factored into the price all the same.

Price: $115 SOLD

5. 1938 Parker Vacumatic Standard (Golden Pearl, GPT, lockdown vacumatic filler, 14k semi-flex F nib). A full-sized 1st gen Vacumatic, measuring 5 1/8” capped. Semi-flex 14k two-tone Vac Arrow nib lays down a smooth and consistent F line and flexes to a B under moderate pressure (see writing sample). If you’ve been looking for an exemplary 1st gen, double-jeweled Vacumatic, here’s your chance. The transparency on this pen is superb, with factory clarity and yellow as opposed to red/amber hue. A strong filler that holds a lot of ink fully visible to the writer. Condition: No brassing to the trim but for a spot of high point wear on the very tip of the clip arrow and a sliver to the bottom edge of the lower cap band. No wear to the platinum masking on the nib. Metal lockdown filler locks firmly into position as designed. Deep, fully legible imprint, sharply pointed jewels, and smooth, lustrous finish to the celluloid with no major scratches. An iconic pen and a delightful writer.

Price: $185 SOLD

6. 1937 Parker Vacumatic Standard (Black, GPT, lockdown vacumatic filler, 14k firm F nib). Another full-sized 1st gen, double-jeweled Vacumatic, measuring 5 3/16” capped. Firm 14k two-tone Vac Arrow nib lays down a smooth and consistent F line (see writing sample). For reasons I haven’t been able to pin down, 1st gen Vacs manufactured in particular years tended to be made with wider transparent striations, yielding exceptional transparency. This is one of those models. The color of the clear striations are more orange than yellow (as in #5), but their width makes for a demonstrator-like view of the inside of this pen. Condition: Only high-point wear to the clip and the bottom edge on one side of of lower 2 cap bands. No wear to the platinum masking on the nib. Metal lockdown filler locks firmly into position as designed. Mostly legible imprint, and smooth, lustrous finish to the celluloid with no major scratches.

Price: $160 SOLD
