Condition (n.b.): All pens listed below have been fully disassembled, cleaned, and restored with new sacs/diaphragms in the past couple weeks. Each is guaranteed to fill and write as designed without leaks or other issues. These pens have no cracks, chips (except #4), personal engravings, missing parts, bent nibs, misaligned tines, or threading issues.

1. 1930s Waterman Lady Patricia** (Onyx, lever-filler, GPT, 14k EF Super-Flexible nib). The Lady Patricia was the smaller counterpart to Waterman’s oversized Patrician, introduced in 1929. The pens are recognized by collectors to be paragons of Art Deco style, exemplified on this pen by the cascade design of the clip and other design details. The cap and barrel are made of a red-veined marble celluloud, which carries over to the red hard rubber section and band around the bottom of the cap. Measures roughly 4 3/8” capped and 6 1/2” posted. The Super-Flexible 14k Ideal #2 nib is a delightfully smooth and consistent EF that flexes to a BBB+ under light pressure (see writing sample). Excellent variation and snap-back make it an excellent choice for Copperplate and Spencerian styles. Condition is excellent, with no brassing to the trim (including the metal plate on top of the cap) and deep, fully legible imprint (see photo). Some fading to the barrel, but color is better than most. And there are a couple light flea-bites and scratches to the section that could be polished out (see section in writing sample photo). On the whole, a well-preserved pen and a joy to write with. Price: $165 SOLD

2. 1920s Conklin Endura Std. (Lapis Blue, lever-filler, GPT, 14k F Semi-Flexible Stub nib). One of my personal favorites from the 1920s in the beautiful and desirable lapis blue color. This is the standard sized model, measuring a hair under 5” capped. 14k Conklin Endura nib with crescent shaped breather is a Semi-Flexible F factory Stub, laying down a F line on the downstroke and an EF on the cross-stroke unflexed, then flexing to a B+ under moderate pressure. I’m really taken with this nib, so if someone is looking for an *oversized* Endura set in Lapis instead, I would consider releasing it from my personal colelction in lieu of this one (note that the price would be about double that of the std. size – PM for photos + details). Condition of this pen is near mint, with no brassing to the trim (all too common on Enduras) and vibrant, even color across the barrel and cap. Deep, fully legible imprint (see photo). A real jewel of a pen. Price: $210 SOLD

3. 1920s Sheaffer BCHR (black hard rubber, lever filler, NPT, 14k EF Wet Noodle). I’m not very knowledgeable about Sheaffers of this period, but this strikes me as a very interesting pen. The chasing pattern on the hard rubber, which Richard Binder has dubbed “Zigzag Bars,” is unique and quite attractive. This is a longer pen, measuring 5 5/16” capped. And it comes equipped with a huge, 14k Sheaffer #4 nib whose elongate profile resembles Waterman’s artist nibs of the period. If you’ve been looking for a wet noodle nib with extraordinary line-variation, then this one’s for you. The nib lays down a slightly stubbish, smooth and consistent EF/F line (depending on ink) and flexes to a BBB+ under very light pressure (see writing sample). You’ll need a light touch to get needlepoint hairlines on this one given its sensitivity to pressure. But in the right hand it’s capable of anything you can throw at it. Condition is excellent, with factory-black color to the hard rubber, factory-deep chasing, and deep, fully legible imprint. Some of the nickel plated trim has lost its original luster but shows no corrosion or significant blemishes. One of the flaxiest pens I’ve ever offered. Price: $260 SOLD

4. 1930s Waterman #3 (Jet black celluloid, lever filler, NPT, 14k EEF Super-Flexible nib). Measures a hair of 5” capped. The 14k Super-flexible Ideal #2 nib is not quite as flexible as that of #3, but yields finer hairlines and more control over the line overall. It lays down a smooth and consistent EEF line and flexes to a BBB+ under light pressure (see writing sample). Excellent snap-back and needlepoint hairlines make this another great choice for Copperplate and Spencerian styles. Condition is very good, with some minor high-point wear to the trim (mostly on the sides of the clip and clip ball) and some chips/grooves to the very end of the barrel. None of these penetrate all the way through the plastic and are less conspicuous from the sides than when viewed from the end (see detail photo). Deep, fully legible imprint and smooth, lustrous finish to the celluloid. [B]Price: $190 SOLD

5. 1941 Parker Vacumatic Debutante (Silver Pearl celluloid, vacumatic filler, NPT, 14k EF Flexible nib). Canadian Vacs seem to crop up more frequently with flexible nibs – this one is no exception. The 14k Vac Arrow nib lays down a smooth and consistent EF line and flexes to a BB+ under light/moderate pressure. Similar line variation as the Endura above (#2) but less pressure is required to fatten the line. Measures 4 3/4” capped and roughly 5 1/2” posted. Condition is excellent, with factory-clear transparency – no discernible ambering or darkening for maximal visibility of the ink level (see detail photo). I’d surmise that roughly 1 in about 50 Vacs I’ve handle exhibits clarity this good. Some scratches to the plastic toward the top of the cap, but none terribly deep or unsightly. Bright even color. Some wear to the imprint but still fully legible. And trim is in great shape. Strong vacuum pressure – fills to the hilt! Price: $120 SOLD
