Here is an ink sample with the pink safari. The ink has some definite pretty shading. Felt dry to me. Had to retrace some of the downstrokes. I don't see much difference with the wider nib, when the spacing/letter height roughly the same. Lower case height one dot width; however, I did not have to do any retracing on the down stroke. Still felt a very dry ink. Anyone with experience, similar or different, with the same ink?http://fpgeeks.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2370&d=1367684766

Salix is one of my top three blue inks for copy paper (the other two being Noodler's Bad Blue Heron and Sailor Sei-Boku).

It certainly is a dry ink, but I think it mostly works to its advantage. I have found the shading to be very dependent on nib choice and a pen's flow. Overall it's certainly one of my favorites.

I really rate this ink a lot. One of my favourite blues.

I have a TWSBI 540 loaded with Salix all the time (at home today). It is a bit dry but the shading is great. I've tried it in flex nibbed vintage pens with great results.

Just ordered my first bottle of Salix and am anxiously awaiting its arrival!

Salix is indeed a dry ink. As others have mentioned it's great for cheap copy paper. I used to worry about it in pens because of it's iron gall content but I've not had a single issue with it.

For those of you not into blues, Scabiosa is a wonderful dusty dark purple color that has all the same great properties of Salix.
