SOLD: Sheaffer Balance OS made from solid copper billet by the renowned Chris Thompson. You probably know Chris Thompson’s pens made from exotic materials, such as his copper and brass Parker Duofolds. This rare beauty will crown your collection. The barrel, cap and section are machined from copper billet adding an original clip, ebonite feed and 14k nib, not to mention its white dot! The embossing is exactly the same as an original (see photo) down to the fonts and patent dates, with the added text: replica 2005.

When I first acquired the pen, I had metallurgist and pen restorer Stuart Hawkinson carefully separate the barrel and section since it seemed to be stuck fast. He cleaned and re-sacced it. A novice collector who bought it from me mistakenly assumed it was factory original and returned it, not appreciating the rare pen that he had. His loss is your gain.

I’ve again re-sacced the pen and it is available for sale.

I tend to show it off at pen shows where admirers and curious show-goers remarked that it could even be considered steampunk, with its copper, brass and gold. Still, Chris Thompson was faithful to the original when he created this pen. If you own a copper Duofold, this will make your collection complete.

Strange, I find that pens with sacs are some of my best writers. I have a great deal more trouble with cartridge converter pens.

This is true for most pens, as the c/c nipple area tends to be a stranglehold for ink/flow

I keep coming back to this beauty. I really wish I had the cash for it now. That is a remarkable pen.
