I recently changed the donation plugin to add a few new features. The first is the sidebar widget that displays the latest donations:
2464

There's also the option to donate anonymously and/or choose to disclose your donation amount:
2465

I've contacted all the donors who used the previous method and asked if they'd like to be anonymous and/or disclose their amount. Those amounts you see right now are from users who donated using the new donation plugin and chose to disclose their amount.

User who donate are added to a new group called FPG Donors who are allowed to see a complete contribution list but amounts will be hidden:
2466

You can also view all of your contributions:
2467

All users who donate will also have the option of adding 'FPG Donor ♕' under their username. It shouldn't automatically do this. If it does, please let me know. You can change or add this title in User Settings:
2468

For reference, the notes about the old plugin can be revealed below:
At the request of some users we have added the ability to donate using Paypal. The link is under the main menu bar:
2435
You can choose to donate whatever amount you wish. Once your donation has been verified you'll be add to the FPG Donor Group and will be able to change the title under your username to FPG Donor ♕, as can be seen under my name to the left.

If you have any questions just drop 'em down below.

That is certainly a good idea, although I think it would be better if you gave people the option of being able to choose whether or not they want "FPG Donor" as their title...I would like to donate sometime but would rather not have the donor sign by my username.

+1 FPK's suggestion.

A certain pen board  has a setup of a donate box on the bottom of the main page. Members donate, and then their name/handle (or anonymously, though the admin still can see it) is added.

You can start a thread "thanking" people if you find this more "friendly".

Just my two cents.....

Regards,
Frank

Will, the title isn't forced. Sorry if I could have been more clear in the initial post.

Frank, right now only donors can see the list of other donors by clicking 'Quick Links' in the menu bar and then selecting 'View Donations'. Although, this can be changed. We can make it so everyone can see the list of donors and even their amount, if that's what the community wants.

Do let us know when that ability is enabled and it's location, in case one wanted to change it.

Sorry I mis-read your original post. Now I think I understand.

Sorry, thought it was accessible. Look in Settings, under 'My Account' click 'Permission Groups'.

EWWW! REally, I find the new update that has "Donate" right on the home page right at the top is a bit detracting from the overall feel of the forum, it is just a bit too business like. I'm fine with donations, but I really would consider making it more subtle. , i.e, not right at the top on the home page.

I'm with Will on this one - it is rather brash

ETA: Paypal's having issues tonight, I'll try again another day.

You can "mute" it by clicking that arrow icon on the top right of it. :)

No strong feelings on how big the button is or where you stick or if it's anonymous though get where everyone else is coming from. Just made a donation and it's only a little because I am a bit broke...on account of I keep buying pens!

I know. Maybe he could keep it where it is but have it so that the page loads first on "mute," and then one could un-mute it if they wanted.

Now it looks better - it's not as dominating.

It was the orange in that image, wasn't it? I'll work on changing the color of the contribute button too.

Definitely

It made the forum look like a shop - it's much better now.

Personally I'm not as bothered by the smaller button and in some ways it does draw your attention to the donation area (but it doesn't 'scream' at you like before).
