I am trying to clear out some of my pens because I've gone a little off the deep end with these Chinese pens and my own vintage pens. This one is part of the vintage collection and its a really beautiful example this type of pen as there is NO discoloration, meaning that this pen was either hardly used or was kept in cool dark place without being exposed to UV light. The black chased pattern on the pen also seems to indicate that this pen was never really used as you can't see wear on the pen body.
The pen seems to be from San Francisco as the pen body has the lettering - FLEET SF PEN - SOLID GOLD NIB. The body of the pen has a nice chased pattern that is in great shape. There is also an empty spot on the pen body that is meant for the buyer to engrave their own name or initials on the pen. The spot is still blank and is open for anyone to engrave it or leave it as is.
The cap of this pen is just as clean as the body and it is also in immaculate condition. The cap does not have a cap as accommodation clips were very popular in this era and it probably wouldve been an addition. Since the pattern on the pen cap is in such great shape, I wouldn't put a clip on it.
The nib is really nice and produces a lot of flex when writing, as you can tell from the writing sample that I have made for this pen. I cant say exactly how much flex there is but I would say that it is somewhere from F to BB. I also noticed that it was best for low angle or lower angle writing, if you write with a higher than 45 degree angle, the nib is not as smooth but when its a normal or lower angle, it write super smoothly and flexes very well with a clean snap back.
This pen is a beautiful example of a BCHR pen with no oxidation and it would make a great flex writer for someone who enjoys a classic style.
