I have a cherished Lamy 2000. Last night while cleaning it I did it...I managed to lose the Cap Clutch Ring - Tabbed Spring. Calls to pen stores all over tell me they can no longer get Lamy parts. No one seems to have one on E-Bay. The Lamy US site appears cleared out and some folks have said they have ceased having a US repair center. Can anyone give me some advice? Is sending it to Germany my only option? If so, does anyone know the cost of something like this? I have dug through the garbage three times, strained my ink four times, dusted, swept, you name it. It is like it has simply vanished into thin air. House clean but very sad here!

I'm new here so if there are posting options of which I am unaware, please let me know.

How old is the pen? I think there have been revisions in the 2000.

You might also ask for help on the Fountain Pen Network, fountainpennetwork.com. I don't know what the clutch ring looks like, but I was working on another pen once and lost its cap clutch ring in the sink. I found it in the trap later.

I know there are many retailers for these pens around the country. If nothing else, I'd try getting in contact with a known dealer, maybe Anderson Pens, to see if they can assist in rounding up a part like that.

If you cannot find the clutch ring, perhaps a section might be found.

Also a company that carries parts: https://www.thepencompany.com/spare-part/

On Reddit, there were several cases of people contacting the US repair center and Lamy just sent them the clutch ring, it wasn't even necessary to mail the pen itself there.

As for the Lamy US site confusion: I guess you went to lamyusa.com, which was their official US distributor. Lamy is changing their strategy and IIRC are going to self-distribute, that's why lamyusa.com is having non-stop clearance sales and acting as if it's going out of business -- but Lamy the pen manufacturer is still alive and well.

The repair centre in Heidelberg are EXCELLENT, so I'd try there. I think I might have lost a clutch ring once and obtained one from them. Of course, it is absolutely guaranteed that as soon as one is on the way your original one will show up in a pocket or on a tea-towel or something!

Good luck

Bob Nurin has them. He's the guy who runs the US service center. I'm on the go now, but you'll be able to track down a clutch ring, fret not.
