Greetings all,

The extremely popular Monteverde Invincia line -- most recently focused on the all-black Stealth (nib included!) -- expands further with the Color Fusion models Avenger Yellow and Spitfire Red. Oh, and they have black nibs too!

There's lots of ink news from Private Reserve. Read further in the newsletter for new colors, new bottles and new (lower) prices.

Lai Yee has several new patterns in her pen roll and pen envelope lines. Who can resist one called Many Blessings?

There's a new brush refill for Monteverde's Artista Perma line of pens. It's great for drawing and writing Chinese/Japanese characters.

As mentioned in the last newsletter, Delta pens will be going up in price on October 1st, so now's the time to order if you've been wanting one of these great pens.

As Monteverde says: "MonteverdeŽ introduces the new concept of "Color Fusion" series to the ever popular Invincia pen line. It all started with the Black Stealth Invincia, a pen in all black with sophistication that definitely gets noticed and yet remains understated as it flies "under the radar". The 3 layers of durable black lacquer create depth and brilliance with the barrel, clip and trim all in matching black. The fountain pen even has a new and unique black nib that is titanium-coated stainless steel for extreme durability yet remains flexible.

"To live up to the name "Color Fusion", the pen series would of course have to soar to new heights with more brilliant color schemes being introduced. The two new exhilarating colors that are ready for take-off now are Spitfire Red and Avenger Yellow. Your passion for flash, flair and flight are sure to be excited by the new Color Fusion concept. The sophistication of the trim, clip and nib in stark black contrasted with that of the barrel and cap in brilliant red or vibrant yellow is revolutionary just as was man's ability for flight itself. So whether you wish to go incognito or fly with more flair, there is a new Invincia Color Fusion that promises a great flight."

Delta price increase coming

http://www.hisnibs.com/DeltaOroPiston_small1.jpg

Delta of Italy makes some of the finest regular production and limited edition pens in the world. Most recognizable for their iconic Dolcevita (the 'sweet life') line, as with the newest Oro above, they regularly produce models that become 'must have' pens.

Although I'll occasionally keep stock on hand of certain models, generally -- due to the large number of models and various nib size combinations -- I place customer orders directly with YAFA (Delta's U.S. distributor) when they're received. Not needing to stock everything helps me to provide the 20% across-the-board discount I've always offered over the years.

As I've been informed that all Delta prices will increase on October 1st, I wanted to alert you to that fact and remind you of this incredible line of pens.

Private Reserve Invincible Black

Joining Aqua Blue -- and also bottled in the 75 ml cobalt blue bottle -- is the second of Private Reserve's Invincible inks -- Invincible Black.

These inks has been thoroughly tested and is found to be light-fast and quick drying, with no feathering.
Created with stable dyes and formulas, Invincible inks resists water, bleach and other chemicals, but is easily cleaned from pens, nibs and converters -- with no residue.

As to the difference in price...that's not a mistake. I was told by Terry at Private Reserve that the Invincible Black is the most expensive ink to manufacture of all, and is still in limited quantities.

Private Reserve -- new bottle design

http://www.hisnibs.com/sidebar-pyramid_small.jpg

You may have already noticed that the standard sized Private Reserve ink -- which is 50 ml -- has begun to ship in a new bottle. It's slightly taller and slimmer than the older one. It will take awhile to package all the colors in the new bottle, so expect to receive both bottles in multi-color orders for the near future.

A number of inks that were previously in larger bottles, such as the Fast Dry and Cosmic Cobalt, are now being standardized to the new 50 ml bottle, and their prices adjusted accordingly.

Private Reserve Chartreuse highlighting ink

http://www.hisnibs.com/Chartreuse_small.jpg

With the introduction of Chartreuse, Private Reserve introduces the first of it's inks designed to be used as a highlighter -- in your fountain pen!

Being a specialized ink, this highlighting ability works best in broader nibbed pens if highlighting text, or finer nibbed pens if underlining.

Private Reserve Fast Dry ink -- new colors!

Joining the original Midnight Blues, Sherwood Green and Ultra Black -- three new colors join this family of specially formulated inks, which are designed to dry especially quickly when making contact with paper...American Blue, Chocolat and Tanzanite.

On the blog...The pen that never forgets

""To refresh her memory, Dervishaj pulled out her math notebook. But her class notes were not great: she had copied several sample problems but hadn't written a clear explanation of how exponents work.

"She didn't need to. Dervishaj's entire grade 7 math class has been outfitted with "smart pens" made by Livescribe, a start-up based in Oakland, Calif. The pens perform an interesting trick: when Dervishaj and her classmates write in their notebooks, the pen records audio of whatever is going on around it and links the audio to the handwritten words. If her written notes are inadequate, she can tap the pen on a sentence or word, and the pen plays what the teacher was saying at that precise point."

Follow the link to the August 22nd blog entry, by clicking below, to read the full article and see a graphic of the pen.
