This is from Richard Binder, posted on FB (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1185755598177723/permalink/1700500973369847/) a little while ago:

Historically, the Washington DC Fountain Pen Supershow has been an enjoyable show for exhibitors and patrons from all over the world. Last year, however, the show's change of location and lack of organization led to frustration and anger among both exhibitors and patrons. We have received no indication that the problems experienced last year have been resolved, nor has the show's website been updated except to change the dates of the show from last year's to this year's.

While all of us enjoy pen shows, participating as an exhibitor at a show is an expensive proposition. We are professional pen people, and we need to be able to set up before the public is admitted so that we can work during the show. The complete lack of information about the Washington show raises serious questions about our ability to serve our clients.

For these reasons, we have decided not to attend the Washington show this year. We greatly hope that the problems of the past have indeed been resolved, and we hope to return next year.

Rick Krantz and I had decided not to get our tables last year for the first time in a while, though we did drop in on the Saturday to see if we made the right decision. The stories from other vendors as to how they were treated were horrendous. For years there's been a general wave of dissatisfaction building among vendors at DC due to the disorganization. The prior venue carried some momentum for the DC show, but now even that's gone.

You staying home this year too?
Correct. We will not be vendors for the second year in a row. By the way, it was good to see you at the Columbus show.

Speaking of August, I heard there’s a pen show in San Francisco. Last I heard there were still rooms and tables available. Seems like the show organizers are pretty eager to do right by the pen community.

You would have a kickin' grand time. We could take turns sitting in with the band!

Will you all be going to the Miami show? I have moved back to central Florida and was thinking of visiting that show.
