So, who's not heard of the Carrington Event of 1859 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_storm_of_1859)?

Y'all heard of the Suez (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2017/jun/27/vulnerable-chokepoints-threaten-global-food-supply-warns-report) Crisis, and the effects that had food prices and political stability, but what about a threat to our electronic infrastructure?

You should read this -

Suffers from the illusion that people, as a group or individually, are sufficiently advanced from the animal state not to behave like animals. We're not, by a long shot. :)

Indeed, which is why forewarned is forearmed, yet certain governments now consider it unnecessary to encourage awareness and prepared potential... look at their 'social unrest model', they see the people organising, mobilising, and forming 'alternative governments' as a threat...

Human beings are terrible at long term preparedness, at the societal level. At the personal level, some are very good at it, some almost obsessed with it, and many completely clueless.

All satellites should be equipped with shielding to handle the radiation that could be endured from an intense solar event, like the Carrington Events. Same thing with cellular towers and microwave relay stations. Every 10 years there's the cycle where something catastrophic could happen. Given how heavily dependent we are on these devices... we are so tremendously vulnerable. Just ridiculous.

We don't live in a modern society. It's a technological society. The underlying societal structure and politics hasn't changed much for hundreds of years. We're still facing corruption at the highest levels that is seriously unnerving, because you'd think at this point we'd get beyond it. Too many people who are ethically deficient and morally bankrupt... probably due to anemic parenting and schooling.
