Condition (n.b.): All pens listed below have been disassembled, cleaned and restored with new sacs in the past month. *Each is guaranteed to fill and write as designed without leaks or other issues. These pens have no cracks, chips, personal engravings, missing parts, bent nibs, misaligned tines, or threading issues.*

1. 1930s-40s Mentmore Supreme (rose marble celluloid, GPT, button filler, 14k M Super-Flex nib). Measures 5 1/16” capped. Founded in 1923, Mentmore was a British pen company that manufactured a full range of pens. This is one of their top-tier button fillers from the 30s-40s. The blindcap unscrews to reveal a threaded plastic button, which is depressed to compress the sac inside, filling it with ink when the sac re-inflates. This one gives a particularly strong fill. Mentmores often crop up with quality 14k European Warranted nibs. This one is Super-Flexible, laying down a smooth and consistent M line and flexing to BBB+ under light pressure (see writing sample). Condition: excellent, with no brassing to the gold-plated trim, deep, fully legible imprint, and smooth, lustrous finish to the celluloid. No notable flaws to speak of.

2. 1950s NOS James Grey Cracked Ice (grey cracked ice celluloid, GPT, button filler, 18k F nib). Measures 5 1/4” capped. I know very little about the James pen company aside from the fact that it was based in France. This high quality pen is new old stock, retaining the original sticker on the cap, but it has been re-sacced and inked. Strikingly beautiful celluloid resembles what is commonly called cracked ice: iridescent grey marble portions akin to stone with black veins/fracture patterns. This pen is a button filler: blindcap unscrews to reveal a threaded plastic button, which is depressed to compress the sac inside, filling it with ink when the sac re-inflates. Firm 18k Warranted nib lays down a smooth and consistent XF/F line (see writing sample). Condition: excellent. Gold-plated trim is very clean, with only negligible high point wear on the cap rings and sides of the clip. Smooth, lustrous finish and deep, fully legible imprint.

3. 1930s-40s Wahl Oxford (green watermelon, NPT, lever filler, SS two-tone F nib). Measures 4 7/8” capped. This is one of the scarcer Oxford patterns – took me 2 years to find an example for my own collection. It’s a bright, iridescent green in a summery pattern calling watermelons to mind. Don’t think this model was ever catalogued. It comes equipped with a stainless steel Oxford nib gold masking. It’s marked ‘Medium’, but lays down more of a F line that is smooth and consistent (see writing sample). **Condition:** very good. The nickel-plating on these pens was very delicate and quite prone to wear. This one is much cleaner than most: free of wear aside from some corrosion/brassing to roughly half of the cap band on the back of the cap (see photo of side of caps). Smooth, lustrous finish to the barrel with no major scratches. Some wear to the barrel imprint (“Wahl Oxford . . . By the Makers of Eversharp”), but still fully legible. A very unusual pen for the Eversharp collector.
