Noodlers has some decent ebonite pens that are inexpensive and their stock nibs are FM, however you can easily grind to your preference or grab one of Goulet’s nibs as their #6 nibs make a nice upgrade.
Noodlers also has ebonite feeds and mostly never skip or dry out

kulprit..............I have a few Noodler's Dixie Ebonites as well and the "quality control" on the nibs is kind of crazy" some are more fine, fine-medium or even medium? The Neponset music nibs are for the most part junk. I have had to work on every one one I got. I took a couple and put some real quality 14k nibs in as I love the size of the pen. I still have a couple with the Musics nibs left in though:applause:

I use Noodler's Eel or Polar ink and the piston, etc. never freezes or gets stuck:big_boss:

Just remove the feed and nib where you can empty the ink. Take a qtip with a little silicone grease and jam it up the barrel so the piston can pick up to move

Still here.............just been busy and I enjoy you posts:applause:

I am more of a CI fan than stubbish, however still enjoy a stub in the right circumstances. The Nemosine 0.6 is a great nib and installed one in a Neponset that really writes great! Big 'ol honking pen that writes smooth and on the wet side. I took a Lamy broad stub or italic and reground it to more of a fat medium, thinned it down to more of a regular italic that I am pretty happy with as well. I still like my gold nibs better, however you play around with the steel nibs as they are mostly inexpensive. Seating the feed (ebonite is better) to the nib does wonders as well. I have had great success with the Noodler's standard nib on the Ahab's and Konrad's making them to my preference and they are inexpensive.

Congratulations and what a nice gesture someone did gifting.

I use to gift, but seems like the people I gifted to were only going through a phase....., so that took care of that[emoji30]

Esterbrooks IMOP give you the best bang for the buck and are not to bad aesthetically either.

Pelikan ink is very safe in latex sac pens as is Sheaffer and traditional Waterman ink.

I learned the hard way using some modern inks that melted the sac- live and learn.

I use exotic, modern inks in my converter pens, but still flush as they can eat the feed.

Vintage Sheaffer is one of my favorite safe inks as it had better water resistance to current Sheaffer ink.

In fine nibs that can run dry Sheaffer also has great flow, but of course you are limited in color choice.

Diamine from what I have used is very safe as well for sac pens.

Of course mostly all currents inks are safe for vintage pens if you flush them every time, however I forget which ink is in what pen and just keep the safe bet if I forget and leave ink in for a while🤯

Ooops, it's Sailor Sky Blue ink, not the Diamine. They look almost identical to me, but I can get Sky Blue in cartridges, which hold much more ink than the converters do.

Here's my try at small writing with the finest nib I have, an Esterbrook 2550. I can't seem to find a dime. The paper is French ruled Clairefontaine. The small rulings are about 1.9mm

Thank you, Jon. That's somewhat similar to what I read. We have to take into account the fact that the press often exaggerates but I suppose if cursive becomes truly redundant it will disappear for practical purposes though there will always be eccentrics like us, even in later generations, who will keep cursive alive.
