For your writing pleasure I offer this trusty Esterbrook model SJ fountain pen with a #1551 fine nib, a new J-bar, and a quality ink sac properly installed with sac cement and talc.

The fine #1551 nib writes smoothly, reliably, and on the wet side when testing on Clairefontaine and Apica papers. I observed good, controlled flow, no hard starting, and no skipping while writing a couple pages using Diamine Macassar. I very gently and conservatively smoothed out some annoying scratchiness and aligned the tines.

The marbled copper-brown celluloid is as strong as it is beautiful and has been treated to a conservative buffing to bring out its luster.

Color matching between cap and barrel on this pen is a bit off with the barrel a bit more reddish than the cap in some lighting. As a result I'll try to make it a bargain. :)

Measuring about 4.5" capped, and about 3/8" thick, the SJ makes for a conveniently portable, compact writing instrument that is still long enough for most people to write with unposted.
