Two "Kiseru" Type pens made from pieces of well dried firewood.
The inside stabilized with ebonite, the pens lacquered with urushi, Negoro style.

Cheers,

Martin

I love that so much. The contrast between the rough outside and the smooth pen, and the way the urushi rubs off the ridges giving that black-and-red grain pattern - terrific!

I am now going to take another look at my woodpile... last time I did, I got a couple of lovely plumwood dip pens out of it.

About red and black lacquer
Yō no Bi
Yō no bi’ is an expression from the Japanese folk craft tradition and means ‘beauty through use’.
It is perfectly represented by (Red and Black) Negoro lacquer.
