Pen Kimono and Pen Wrap project

Hello pen friends,

My name is Long Le from Otis Handmade, Vietnam.

Some of our pen lovers at Otis have just made a fabric pen case for their daily carry fountain pens and many people ask us to bring the case to the public. We have decided to run a project for Single pen Kimono and Pen Wrap. Before we introduce the products to the world, we would like to hear from the pen community for what people want for their pen case.

Here is the Single pen Kimono prototype. We use Japanese cotton for the exterior and US cotton for the interior. The kimono can eaily hold the Conklin Duragraph (Length: 140mm capped; Cap max diameter: 15mm). The bigger pen can also go with this Kimono and the smaller will not get lost.

The cord and the lock ball are also imported from Japan.

We will upload the 4-pen-wrap case as soon as the prototype is ready.

Update 23Jul, here is the 4-pen-wrap prototype. The pen wrap is 25x25cm, the slot is 3.5cm each. However, we are not really happy with this version and will soon update.

Kindly let us know what you expect from the Kimonos so that we could alter the current design before mass production. We will sell them online via Etsy and Amazon US.

Hi, If you could give us some photos of the cases, we could check if we are able to make them. Kimono fabric is currently not available yet but we are working with a Japanese supplier in order to get the material.

Those look nice. I love the fabrics.

The big thing for me with multi-pen cases is having some way to stop the pens touching each other. And also having enough padding that I'm sure my pens will be okay.

Would you consider making oversized pen kimono's (for pens 175mm in length and thicker than Montblanc 149)?
Also, how thick is the kimono? Enough to handle a couple of drops without damaging the pen?

Hi Dhruv,

We can make a bigger Kimono for oversize pen. Please let me know the exact pen, or its measurement so that we could give it a try.

We add a thin layer of cotton pad in between the inner and exterior fabric layers. The kimono could protect your pen from being damaged when dropped from certain distance. However, how the pen contacts the ground is the problem. Therefore, we do not guarantee dropping your pen. But you can at least feel better if you have the pen covered by the Kimono.
