A spread of 6 Vintage Parkers (4 remaining) from the 1940s-60s available this weekend. Several Vacumatics including 3 different models in the desirable Azure Blue color and 2 with flex nibs (one a factory stub!). All are fully restored and ready to write.

Condition (n.b.): All pens listed below have been disassembled, cleaned and restored with new diaphragms installed in the last couple months. *Each is guaranteed to fill and write as designed without leaks or other issues. These pens have no cracks, chips, personal engravings (except #3), missing parts, bent nibs, misaligned tines, or threading issues.*

1. 1942 Vacumatic DJ Sub-Deb (Azure, double jewel, GPT, Vacumatic Filler, 14k B Flexible Factory Stub). This shorter model is about the same size as a Pelikan (M)400, measuring 4 3/4” capped. Double black jewels and plain, thin cap band, and bright blue striations stacked on top of transparent ones on the barrel for checking ink level. What truly sets this pen apart is the Flexible Factory Stub nib, which is a rather uncommon find on a Vac. Unflexed, this nib lays down a buttery smooth and consistent B line on the downstroke and F line on the cross-stroke. Under moderate pressure that B line widens to 3 times its width (see writing sample: https://imgur.com/2PGnkvH). A nib expressive enough for correspondence but also well-suited to adding flair to quick note-taking. Condition: excellent-. No brassing to the trim aside from the top and bottom edges of the cap band. Excellent barrel transparency with breather tube/ink level fully visible (see photo: https://imgur.com/Jpa7T79 – note that transparency is better than pictured due to its difficulty to capture and the focus limitations of my camera). Smooth lustrous finish to the barrel with minimal microscratching and just a couple light nicks near the imprint (see imprints photo). Imprint is fully legible but far right side can be hard to make out without a loupe. An outstanding writer and a great EDC. Price: $160 SOLD

2. 1946 Parker Vacumatic Junior** (Azure, GPT, Vacumatic Filler, 14k EF/F Semi-flex nib). Measuring 5 1/16” capped, this Junior model is the same size as a Major but readily differentiated by the thin, double cap bands and lack of blue diamond on the clip. 14k Semi-Flex Vac Arrow nib lays down a smooth and consistent EF/F line that widens to a B under moderate pressure (see [writing sample](https://imgur.com/2PGnkvH)). Condition: excellent, with no brassing to the furniture aside from a thin sliver on the clip tassie. Smooth, lustrous finish to the barrel and deep, fully legible imprint. Black cap jewel present but flattened from wear. Excellent barrel transparency with breather tube/ink level fully visible (see [photo](https://imgur.com/twFQyE2) – note that transparency is better than pictured due to its difficulty to capture and the focus limitations of my camera). A collector-grade example that’s also a solid, dependable writer. Price: $150 SOLD

3. 1942 Parker Vacumatic Long Major w/ Jeweler’s Band (Azure, Jeweler’s band, GPT, Vacumatic filler, 14k two-tone semi-flex nib). Like the sought-after Slender Maxima, this uncommon variant of the Long Major measures 5 1/4” and features a wide Jeweler’s band in “stacked coin” pattern with a cartouche on the back for engraving. This deluxe model was manufactured for only a short time and is difficult to find in Azure Blue. Other details on this first-year single-jewel variant include the blue diamond clip and two-toned nib. For more info on how this pen differs from a Slender Max, see David Isaacson’s well-researched article here: http://www.vacumania.com/SlenderMax/SlenderMaximadebate9999.htm. The 14k Vac Arrow nib on this pen has a nice, soft springiness to it: semi-flex with a line width or two of variation under moderate pressure. It lays down a smooth and consistent EF line (see writing sample: https://imgur.com/2PGnkvH). Condition: excellent-, with no wear to the gold-plated trim aside from a sliver of brassing to the bottom edge of 1/4 of the cap band and a couple scratches to the cartouche on the back, which bears the professional monogram ‘J.F.W.’ The two-tone nib has lost some of its platinum masking around the arrow. Excellent barrel transparency with breather tube/ink level fully visible (see photo https://imgur.com/vlWP202 – note that transparency is better than pictured due to its difficulty to capture and the focus limitations of my camera). Smooth, lustrous finish to the barrel and deep, fully legible imprint but for the date code, which has been rubbed off. (My judgment about the date of manufacture is based on the 1942 date code on the nib and features of the pen described in Isaacson’s article above). A scarce piece for the Parker collector and another solid writer. Price: $200 SOLD

4. 1945 Parker Vacumatic Major (Black, Vacumatic filler, GPT, 14k F Flex nib). Measures 5 1/16” capped. Gold-plated trim with chevron cap band and blue diamond clip. 14k Parker Vac Arrow nib is quite Flexible – an uncommon occurrence on Vacs, the vast majority of which are rigid to semi-flex writers. The nib lays down a smooth and consistent F line that widens to a BB+ under moderate pressure (see writing sample: https://imgur.com/ev1X0Ui). Condition: excellent. No brassing to the trim. Deep, fully legible imprint and smooth, lustrous finish to the celluloid. Superb barrel transparency with breather tube/ink level fully visible (see photo: https://imgur.com/GXGjyiS – note that transparency is better than pictured due to its difficulty to capture and the focus limitations of my camera). A delightfully expressive writer in collector-grade condition. Price: $150 SOLD

5. 1944 Parker 51 Vac (Dove Grey, Lustraloy cap, Vacumatic filler, 14k XF nib). Measures 5 7/17” capped. A nice, early example of Parker’s celebrated workhorse in Dove Grey. Lustraloy cap with blue diamond clip. Vacumatic filler enables ink to be stored directly in the barrel – holds considerably more ink than does the later Aerometric fillers. 14k nib lays down a smooth and consistent EF line (see writing sample: https://imgur.com/cSoBTgc). Condition: excellent. No brassing to the clip or tassie. Frosted cap shows some microscratches common to these and a couple short, shallow marks under the clip near the cap band. No other blemishes to speak of. Smooth lustrous finish to the Lucite with the only notable micro-scratches being around the imprint (left as is to preserve it). Imprint itself is deep and fully legible. Price: $120 SOLD

6. 1962-8 Parker 61 Mark II – Uninked (Grey, Lustraloy cap, Capillary filler, F/M 14k nib). About the same size as a 51, measuring a 5 5/16” capped. Parker’s space-age follow-up to the 51, the 61 featured an innovative capillary filler that was complex in design but simple to use. The barrel unscrews to reveal a Teflon-coated cylinder that houses the proprietary “capillary cell” (“a sheet of plastic that has been perforated, embossed with a 3-D pattern resembling safety tread, and rolled up” –Richard Binder). Just dip the cylinder and it does the rest, absorbing the ink from the bottle. The Teflon coating of the filler housing acts to shed ink when the filler is removed from the bottle for a clean fill (no wiping necessary!). As you can see from the fillers photo, the capillary cell is pink with no signs of ink. Nor did I find any ink residue when inspecting and swabbing the inside of the cap or when dipping the nib in water. I think it’s safe to say that this pen has never been inked. For this reason, I have not filled or dipped it for a writing sample. But the nib appears to be a rigid yet smooth F/EF based on the size of the tipping (If you’re certain you’d like to purchase this pen but would like me to dip-test the nib, I’d be happy to oblige before mailing it out). Condition: near-mint/mint, with no discernible wear to the frosting on the cap, and not even any microscratches on the barrel – just a couple on the hood from the cap clutch mechanism. Like-new condition, as though someone removed the stickers then stowed it away in a box for safe-keeping all these years. Price: $90
