The PFM series was the first truly oversize pen that Sheaffer's made after the 1940's "Premier" oversize Balance pens, as the trend was towards slender fountain pens and skinny ball point pens in the mid-1940's through the 1950's.

For the record. This somewhat reductive. In Sheaffer-speak "oversize" refers to the girth of the pen not the length.

After the Balance Premier pens Sheaffer also made oversize Valiants, Sentinels, & Crests in plunger and lever filler versions.
At 12mm wide these pens are the same width as a PFM where as a first model TD is 11mm and the TM pneumatics (TDs & Snorkels) are 10mm.

There was only a short period, I think 1948(ish)-1959 that Sheaffer did not make any oversize pens.

PFM caps at 15 mm is very nearly the same as Balance "Premier". There is really no close comparison to the pens you cited.
