I don't know why it didn't dawn on me long ago. If you don't want to pour contents into an eyedropper or a Pelikan barrel, the Sheaffer Snorkel is the perfect pen to drain those 6ml ink vials!

Call it an epiphany. A "Eureka!" moment. Now tell me you've been doing it for years.

While we're at it, what's the favored method of removing label glue from those vials? I don't want to dissolve them with acetone.

If I can't get it off simply by rubbing it off with my thumb, I put a little Goo-Gone on a paper towel and clean it off. Doesn't affect the vial at all.

(Nope. Pen's too hard to flush out to use as a tester for samples. I still use syringes, but if I travelled with a Snork I'd take ink in vials)

Anything oily . Cooking oil works as does WD40 . I found that out years ago when I would buy plastic baits for bass fishing . At one point they started adding a bit of scented oil to the outside of the baits and ever after the labels would eventually fall off of the bags due to the oil dissolving the glue through the bag . WD40 is faster but any oil will work and does no damage to the plastic the gum is on .

AKA Naptha as Ron Zorn always says. :)

Goo Gone or Sticky Tape remover usually works too.

Peanut butter. The oil dissolves the glue and the tiny peanut bits scrub it away.

Here's another alternative that intrigues me: https://www.gouletpens.com/collections/everything-else/products/pineider-snorkel-filler?variant=13945996705835

Ron Zorn also says that Goo Gone has damaged some pens.

Yes he has said this, but it's OK to use on vials or glass. :offtopic: I used it on a new champagne flute the other day, but I couldn't get the label off no matter what I tried. Bits of it are still there under the base. Hopefully one day it will have rubbed off.

I keep syringes around for exactly that reason. Really adds a new depth to the 'fountain pen addict' moniker.

I had pens in the brain not the ink vials. :crazy_pilot: Don't we all?
