Talk about gorgeous! Here are two beautiful Nakaya Decapod Twists with very special, nib treatments, priced individually and ready for your collecting and writing pleasure.

On the left in each picture is a Decapod Twist Cigar in Kuro Tamenuri with a very special BB Oblique Cursive Italic with added Flex done by John Mottishaw. This nib treatment is a $120 price extra.

On the right in each picture is a Decapod Twist in Aka Tamenuri with the same very special BB Oblique Cursive Italic with added Flex done by John Mottishaw. This nib treatment is a $120 price extra.

Both pens are in excellent condition, write smoothly, and provide outstanding line variation. While the oblique angle is relatively shallow on these, according to a nibmeister, either could be ground to a regular (non oblique) stub type point if the buyer preferred.

Both pens are of course accompanied by boxes. kimonos, and cartridges.

Yes, they are ebonite threads. The Nakaya Guidebook says BB nibs run .66-.86. I measure the line from these to run close to 1 mm as shown in the writing sample below on dot grid paper. Note that these nibs are also slight obliques with added flex.

Are the threads coated in urushi too, and is it possible to choose a non-modified nib? :-) Beautiful pens and GLWS!

I don't know how to tell for sure if the threads are urushi coated, though I doubt it. They certainly are the same material as the section between threads and body which is ebonite and certainly appears to be urushi coated.

I am a collector, not a dealer, and these pens are excess to my collection, only being sold in order to address my credit card melting due to overuse. So the nibs in the pens are the nibs I have for them. I have a number of other Nakayas, but I have read that switching the nibs in these is a job for professionals, not the home hobbyist. The pen can certainly be sent to nibs.com to change nibs, but I cannot provide that service.
