Sailor King of pen with the Naganata-Togi nib
It is my understanding that this nib can no longer be ordered from Sailor

Beautiful ebonite body in the minimalist KOP ebonite look

The wonderful nib is all gold, which is what the Naganata-Togis are

I had it tuned up by Mike Masayama at the Washington DC pen show in August 2017
so it was smooth already, but now its super smooth.

The nib gives slightly differing widths as the nib is positioned at different angles.
It is a subtle change. The writing sample, on the lower right kind of shows the difference.
The main thing about the nib for me is that it is ultra smooth.
I included some close up pictures of the nib, showing the shape

Comes with the wooden KOP box, the cardboard outer box, all papers, ink and ephemera

I bought this new from Anderson pens

now $760 obo, Was $800

Shipping is $17 to the CONUS because of the box, anywhere else just ask.

This is a smoking deal; Chatterley just sold one of these with a Cross Point nib for $1895 (used). The CP is worth a little more than the NT nib but both are still rare.

If there is a receipt/proof of provenance for the Masuyama tune, could be worth at least equal the CP's value to a collector.

I have no proof that Mike Massayama tuned the nib. It was at the DC pen show and you rush to be one of the early people to sign up for his services, his wife calls you when it is your time and he does his magic, then gets paid in cash.

Maybe, if you ask especially, he could provide something retrospectively?

If that's true, I'd send my pen off to MIW for a tuning.

Regardless, I'd have been all over it at that price if I didn't have the identical pen already. GLWS, it's a great pen and price.

"Could" ... I don't 'know', just a suggestion - but, given the constant supply shortages of Sailor speciality nibs, and the rarity factor of a Naginata Togi in a size #9 with tuning by the pre-eminent ex-Sailor employee nib specialist, I would reckon my estimation to be reasonable.

I have a MF naginata togi nib and its downstrokes are noticeable thinner than the cross strokes, similar to an architect nib. The writing samples above don’t show this attribute and I’m curious if that’s just an artifact of the above writing sample or if the nib doesn’t behave this way. Can the OP help me understand this?

I don't have the NT nib, but the line width of the cross stroke depends on the writing angle as far as I know. So I guess you have lower writing angle than the sellers.

Hello is it possible to get a video of the nib in action? (i.e, line strokes with slightly more pressure than the last stroke?)

Please don't use pressure on these nibs...

they are designed to provide a varying line width according to changes in the vertical (up-down stroke) angle of the pen with the paper.
