Hi all,

Here are five pens (two are sets) fresh off of my workbench. Four of
them have interesting nibs.

If you see one or more pens that you like, please E-mail me at:

michael@northwestpenworks.com

If you intend to make a purchase, please read "Rules, shipping,
etcetera" at the bottom of this post.

Pen #1. c. 1936 Sheaffer's Jr. Balance pen in Ebonized Pearl, i.e.
black with abalone chips. This one is an early rod/plunger fill, with
a coated plunger rod. The silver colored trim has some micro
scratches, but no other damage that I noticed. The plunger head and
packing were replaced by Gerry Berg and the pen is filling well. The
barrel is visulated in spirals and has only light ambering, it is much
better than average. Many of the Ebonized Pearl Balance pens have
discolored over the abalone chips, especially on the barrels, but the
color is perfect on this pen. The nib in this pen is quite scarce, it
is a smooth flexible Medium Stub in 14K. It makes very crisp thin and
thick lines and will flex to about a broad line, when light pressure
is applied. It writes very wet. Capped the pen measures 5 3/8 inches
or 13.7 cm.

Price $185.00 shipping included in the U.S. Foreign shipping
see "Rules, Shipping, Etc." below.

2. c. 1943 Eversharp Fifth Avenue pen and pencil set in Army Brown
(cocoa) with gold filled cap. This color seems to be a bit harder to
find than some other colors that this model came in. The the only
damage I found are a couple of very small bump marks on barrel end.
The shell around the nib has some typical darker brown staining
towards the nib. The gold filled caps and other trim parts are perfect
with no brassing, dings or scratches. The hinge on the box is loose,
but could be re-glued. There is a split on one corner of the box top.
The nib in the pen appears to be a Double Extra Fine. The pencil is
working well and has a couple of extra leads inside. Capped the pen
measures 5 1/8 inches or 13 cm.

Price $135.00 shipping included in the U.S. Foreign shipping
see "Rules, Shipping, Etc." below.

3. ~SOLD~ to M.B.
1953 Parker 51 Aerometric pen and pencil set in black with gold
filled converging line pattern caps, in original box. This set had
seen very little use. It looked like the pen had been inked with
turquoise Parker Quink used a bit an put away in the box. This is a
full size set and the pen measures 5 3/8 inches or 13.7 cm with the
cap on. The ink sac has some light staining, as you would expect,
since it had ink inside of it for the last 60 years. There is no
damage to report on the set. Even the box is in very nice condition!
The nib is a smooth writing Extra Fine with very nice flow. The
condition of the set is Excellent plus. As a side note; I would not
have known what year this set was made, except I found the pencil is
date coded 53. I think Parker stopped date coding the 51 pen barrels
in 1952, in the U.S. At least I have never seen a U.S. made 51 with a
date code later than 52 on the barrel.

~SOLD~ to M.B. $185.00 shipping included in the U.S. Foreign shipping
see "Rules, Shipping, Etc." below.

4. c. 1917 Conklin 30 Crescent fill pen in black chased hard rubber.
The only damage I found on this pen is about 4 mm brassing on the top
edge of the crescent. The pen has only minimal discoloration and has a
nice shiny surface with nice chasing and imprints. There is no
brassing on the clip or cap band. This is an earlier crescent pen that
is only stamped on one side of the crescent. The nib is a smooth
writing Flexible Fine 14K. It will write from fine to double broad
when moderate pressure is applied. Capped the pen measures 5 3/8
inches or 13.7 cm. The overall condition of the pen is Excellent.

Price $250.00 shipping included in the U.S. Foreign shipping
see "Rules, Shipping, Etc." below.

5. Parker 51 with custom barrel and shell, made by Ariel Kullock, in
brown and black ripple hard rubber (ebonite) with gold filled cap. The
cap and clip have no brassing or scratches. The cap does have a slight
bump from the inside out, on one side, about the size of a pinhead.
The clip has the original paint in the blue diamond. The pattern on
the cap is solid continuous longitudinal lines. The filler has an over
the end squeeze spring Aerometric filler. The nib is one that I bought
out of England. It is a smooth writing Medium 14K and has very good
flow. I bought another brown and black ripple shell set from Ariel and
Michelle earlier in the year. I liked the ripple so much that I wanted
a few more to build some custom 51's. I e-mailed Michelle and ask how
many they had left and she told me this was the last one in stock.
Anyway, it has a pretty high cool factor and is a very attractive pen.
One reason I like these is that hard rubber is warm to the touch and I
like P51's, so it's a great combination, IMHO.

Price $285.00 shipping included in the U.S. Foreign shipping
see "Rules, Shipping, Etc." below.
