hi, FTG community!

recently discovered that Parker( gold nib, silver plated?) at local flea market for around 35 dollars.

question: what model is that? Was it worth buying?

Looking forward to hear your opinions!

It's a Parker 75 but it's missing a silver band at the end of the section next to the nib

but the nib itself is golden, right?

Yes, it should be gold.
What does it say underneath Parker on the left side of the nib?
Since it says France on the right, I'd guess 18K or 750. But there were also 14K 585 nibs.

Yes it should be. As catbert says you will need to see what the hallmark says before we know what gold content it is. My best guess is that it should be 18ct.

It was worth $35, but it's a shame that the band has come off. It was quite a regular problem.

Oh I forgot to say you should check out this Parker 75 that Christof (https://fpgeeks.com/forum/showthread.php/26031-Parker-75-Insignia-Cicelé-with-flat-tassies)has for sale. It shows what the band next to the nib should look like.

It might be possible to find a replacement nib unit with the band on there.

not a problem to still use it without that band- but better it was present on pen.

yes, and I got it for around 13 US dollars, had some trouble converting currencies, so, probably it is worth this money even without band.

Is it possible to say an approximate year when this Parker was produced?

You need to save ParkerPens.net (http://parkerpens.net/parker75.html) as a bookmark as it's a valuable resource for all things Parker.
