This is a very rare, hard to find vintage stainless steel mechanical pencil made by Artline, a Japanese brand. As far as I know, this was sold exclusively in Japan in the late 1990's and was discontinued about 10 years later.

It has a most unusual design of being a retractable mechanical pencil--the front section slides into the rear by about 10mm. It also features a sliding pipe guide that protects the lead. But the really unusual feature is that it has an uncommon "side knock" mechanism. Upon extension, the pencil can bend (or "kink") at the center where it screws together, via a pivot mount. It doesn't have to be in any particular orientation for this (unlike the Pentel Quicker Clicker, with section mounted button). You simply squeeze the barrel as you're holding it, so there's minimal finger movement. Once you get the hang of it, it's seriously easy to do without a skip. See the VIDEO (https://i.imgur.com/niE0U4P.gifv) for a demonstration.

This "bending" or "kinking" method was done by few other companies, like rOtring, Platinum, Kokuyo and Tombow. rOtring's model 900 had the same type of mechanism. The ones with soft plastic bodies may have been the Olno by Tombow.

This is the only brushed steel pencil I've seen that has this type of lead advance mechanism. Beautiful machining. And the extension/retraction feature makes for convenient portability. Extended length: 13.6cm; Retracted length: 11.7cm. It seems to do it well without causing abrasions to the brushed metal surface. Lead is added by removing the inner cap and inserting lead into the tube. It's about as heavy as a rOtring 800. And instead of a fully retracting nose cone, it has a sliding pipe guide. It takes 0.5mm lead, and unfortunately haven't found this available in any other sizes.

This sale is for ONE mechanical pencil for $89 $$$$ shipped in CONUS. If you are in Europe, Asia, or Australia / New Zealand and would really like one, please contact me for additional shipping costs.

This is also for sale in other channels, so listing may be closed at any time. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM. Thanks!
