For your writing pleasure is this reliable, fully working, 1930s era Sheaffer Balance in Jet Black and gold trim with 14k gold Lifetime medium (M) nib.
The elegant, slender, full length pen features a radius clip, lever fill with new sac, and a transparent "visulated" section.
The firm, 14k gold, iridium-tipped, medium nib lays down a medium wet line and writes very smoothly. The tip is in great condition. Writing samples were made with Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black.
The pen shows typical dings and scratches and minor brassing of normal use. The cap end suffered damage sometime in the past but has been stable in the months I have owned it. Approximately 25% of the two-tone nib's decorative silver-colored plating has worn off. Note the pen is monogrammed with the name "Emol A Fails"
The ink window shows typical celluloid yellowing and is slightly darkened at the nib end but it is sufficiently clear to determine when the pen is running low.
Overall length capped is 5.5" and length uncapped is 4.75". Maximum girth of the barrel is 4.1". Grip girth ranges from 0.29" - 0.35". This is a slender, full length pen that can easily be used without posting the cap.
