1910-18 Waterman 55 (BCHR, NPT, lever filler, 14k XF Full Flex nib). This is one of Waterman's larger models, measuring 5 1/2" capped and having a thicker girth than the 52. A nice option if the 52s are too small for your hand. And it carries a commensurably large nib. The proper 14k Ideal #5 NY nib lays down a smooth and consistent XF line that widens to a BB+ under moderate pressure (see writing sample). [Note: box is only pictured for presentation purposes and is not included since it's not original to the pen]
Condition: This pen is in stunningly well-preserved condition. The trim is clean. The hard rubber retains its factory black color. The chasing retains its factory depth and sharpness with no discernible wear. The imprint is likewise deep aside from being slightly lighter in the center (all still fully legible). And the '55' stamp on the butt of the barrel even has all its original red fill intact. No cracks, chips, personal engravings, missing parts, misaligned tines, or threading problems. I'd call this pen near mint if it weren't for a scratch on the butt of the barrel and some nibble marks on the top of the cap. As nibble marks go, they're rather short and shallow, so perhaps they can be polished out. Restored with new sac installed in the last couple weeks and guaranteed to fill and write as designed without leaks or other issues. Short of stickered examples, you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer BCHR 55.
