Greetings,

I thought I would share some photos I took of a bunch of ink samples I did awhile back. I personally find pics and scans of ink colors to be very pleasant to like at, plus helpful when I'm preparing to buy ink. Hope you someone finds them helpful.

I hope it's okay to post them in the review section. If not a moderator can let me know.
Blessings,
Dave

I have a scan of that too. Just haven't posted it yet. :)

Syrah is my absolute favorite burgundyish (?) type ink ever. Probably in my top 5 inks period. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree. I never tried any burgundy inks before Syrah and it instantly became a favorite.

Dave - I love seeing inks showcased this way. You really get a sense of the color and depth.

Thanks much!

Thanks for that.
I think it helps to have some background in the photo - helps with the colour balance.

Two that I think are must-haves in this area:

- Diamine Red Dragon
- Noodlers Black Swans in Australian Roses

Wish I had seen something like this before I bought PR Fiesta Red. The swab I saw at the store looked a lot more red than what came out. Still on the hunt for a nice bright red, thinking Private Reserve Dakota Red and Diamine Poppy Red fit the bill.

This situation is the reason I find ink samples such a good thing. I went after a couple of particular shades of color, and it really was worth it to order up a half-dozen or so samples and tell for sure before I plunk down for a full bottle. Not to mention discovering a couple of other nice inks.

You have to try Diamine Syrah!

Ok, request some assistance please, I am a fan of Iroshizuku Yama Buda - and I am trying to get a color close to it = problem is I have a red/green issue with my colors - or bluntly I am color blind (shades of all things)

Would like your input please

Thanks

I can only go by swabs of Yama Budo. Syrah is a deep burgundy red and Yama Budo looks more deep pink bordering on violet to me. Add more red and maybe some black to Yama Budo and you are getting close to Syrah. Have you tried the Goulet swab shop to compare them side by side? http://www.gouletpens.com/Swab_Shop_s/813.htm

Tried that when I bought the Diamine Claret - the swabs were next to each other in the video review of Yama Buda. I'll look at the swab shop again Tks.

this is the swab shop results and based on that the claret should be a match - but in reality it is brighter - I wonder if noodlers saguaro wine would be closer.

Of course I could just bite the bullet and get yama buda and be done with it - some thing about frugal is getting in my way.

I did get a sample of yama buda and I have Diamine Claret - could do a writing sample of each in the same pen for comparison purposes.

Here's a nice sample o PR Black Cherry (below). I looks a bit darker than Syrah. As to Yama Budo, I can go by the online swabs. It looks like a deep magenta. It looks like a deeper, darker JH Rose Ciclamen or Diamine Deep Magenta.

This blog isn't mine BTW, but the image gives a very accurate depiction of PR Black Cherry.

I too love Diamine Syrah but found it to be slightly less lubricated then I normally like. I like very wet easy flowing inks. That being said Syrah is my favorite color period. Any idea on how to make this flow a hair easier????
