So, a couple of announcements for Pelikan already. Any thoughts?

First off, the 2019 Ink of the Year will be "Star Ruby", a burgundy pink kind of colour.

The long awaited M1005 Stresemann is finally coming.

And last but not least, a $3000 retail Herzstück limited edition.

Pictures taken from Pelikan's Perch. Joshua is great and his blog is THE resource for everything Pelikan.:)

I am personally tempted a little bit by the M1005 Stresemann. IOTY and Herzstück not so much. Herzstück isn't even that appealing on it's own personally, but that price tag is deal breaker.

I'm sure they'll appeal to many people out there but they're not for me. The inks isn't my sort of colour, the M1005 is a bit too big and the Herzstück is just far too expensive and I'd be afraid of using it!
I hope Pelikan will bring out another M101N in 'suitable' colours; for example a brown lizard or black/green striated, like the good-old days!

Star ruby looks interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing if we get the M200/205 demonstrator to go with it. If it manages to have a real pink tinge to the burgundy, but still have strong saturation, it could be rather nice.

The Herzstuck... no cap ring but gold everywhere else? That seems a bit strange.

Star Ruby is an interesting choice (mildly annoyed that other promo pics with the gem in the background absolutely do not feature a star ruby, but alas).

Never was a fan of the Anthracite color scheme, so it being larger doesn't do much for me.

However, I love the look of the Herzstück! I like that they took the gold ring off the front of the section. That was always a silly inclusion, imo.

Too bad I won't be dropping $2-$3k on a pen anytime soon...

I agree, the “rust rings” must go, but I simply do not understand the rest of the pen. Another such release was previous anniversary by Pelikan. That release, just like this one, did absolutely nothing for me. I must be weird.

I was curious, so I ran "Herzstück" through Google translate which responded with "Heart," but is there is more commonly recognized meaning, especially in the context of this pen?

Herzstück means something that is a central part of something else. Since this is in celebration of piston filler mechanism anniversary, I'm guessing the Herzstück here would be the piston filling mechanism :)

Herz means heart and stück means a piece or a part, but combined they have a little bit different meaning.

Herzstück is used in the sense of a core or heart of something. E.g. "the heart of every Ford Mustang is the engine."

It's not going to be the piston filler mechanism being referenced, but the actual pen design itself. Pelikan started making fountain pens in 1929. This piece pays homage to the original, therefore it is being used as something integral to the entire company as a pen maker.

The Stresemen is getting me one step closer to an M1xxx, but I can probably resist. I think the only thing that would cause my will to crumble would be an m1005 blue stripe.

I keep seeing the purple stripe, and it is really tempting...

I already have the pink stripe, and this purple stripe pen looks like a great partner for it. I managed to resist the white and turquoise, but this one will be more difficult to ignore.

The Pelikans Perch reports of a new upcoming M805 - blue dunes. A very easy pass from my side. How about you?

I feel they could get away with an acrylic swirl like that a decade ago, but...now? This will be a pass for me as well.

If it wasn't for all of those other pesky models that I'm looking for... :spy:

I like the violet stripe. But the blue looks so like the kind of acrylic used by Edison, or Bexley, or Indian makers... just doesn't have that special Pelikan-ness.

Agreed. Now, if we were to find that these pens will accomplish a beautiful blue swirl by virtue of using celluloid....
