Hi,

I was given this pen as a gift about 15 years ago - sadly I recently dropped it and have damaged the resin in the top half of the barrel. To get a replacement part I need to know what model it is - can anyone help?

It's a Montblanc Meisterstück probably 164. But if you send it to Montblanc for repair, they will know, and will quote you a price. :)

Hi Chrissy,
Many thanks for getting back to me and for the advice. Ernest Jones seem to be an acredited repairer, or should I contact Montblanc directly?

If you are in the US then you can contact Texas directly. Details will be on their web-site. :)

If you buy the part it will probably cost about Montblanc's repair cost. MB parts are not cheap, even though there are ebay sellers who take good pens apart to sell the parts, because they can get more for them as parts than they could get selling the whole pen. There was a time around 2001 I think when I sent a ballpoint to MB with a cracked barrel, and they charged me $10 for the replacement and $10 for the return shipping. I would not guarantee that price today, though. Still using the pen. I have had it for thirty-six years.

Montblanc has a 3 tier set price repair system and the prices are different depending on what model pen it is. This one should come out as the level 1 service for a Meisterstück BP, so won't be that expensive.
In the UK I believe that's all you pay. If you can drop it off at a Montblanc boutique, then you don't have a mail cost to get it to Montblanc UK HQ.

Thankyou all so much for your replies and advice. I'll take it to one of the boutiques in the UK and then it will be as good as new :-)

I started to wonder if you might be in the UK when you mentioned Ernest Jones. In case you're in South London, there is an excellent Montblanc boutique inside Harrods. :)
