Does anybody know if Charlie pens come in different nib sizes or just one? I have a friend that is going to give me 2 more and I'm just curious and if so how can you tell what size it is.

Also the Charlie that I have always wants to drip ink out of the nib if you hold it nib down for just a minute or so, how can I stop this?

Lastely I got both oatey and danco silicone grease from home depot are those safe to use on the threads? Danco says 95% silicone and oatey says 90%

Thanks

All Charlies have F nibs, to my knowledge.

If it’s leaking (rather than burping) try reseating the nib and feed. If that doesn’t work then try heat-setting the feed. There are are a number of videos on how to do the latter, but the one on Goulet’s YouTube page is probably the simplest.

You should stick to 100% silicone grease.

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkIs burping like it spitting when you are writing or is it something else?

And thank you for the advice I will look for the goulet videos on youtube.

Thanks

Well, drips. Burping occurs with eye-droppered pens when the volume of air inside the pen is large (often when it exceeds the volume of ink) so that the heat from your hand causes the air to expand, which in turn pushes some of the ink out. Typically only a drop or two.

If your Charlie is full and/or it’s dripping as soon as you pick it up, then it’s probably a leak rather than a burp.

You’re welcome.
