Hello all, I realise this particular sub-forum is for discussion of pens not covered in other named fora, but is it time to instigate a forum for Faber-Castell fountain pens? They are mostly nib-swappable, nibs write well out of the box, and, I think, are excellent value for money.
How many of us have one/several?

I would love to see a forum on the Faber-Castell line. One of my favorites. Currently trying to figure out if there is any way I could replace a fine Loom nib with a medium and not send it in. I understand they do not sell their nibs but hate to be be without it. Any ideas? Thank you all!

If you're in U.S., I know it's quick and painless. They didn't even charge me, although that may have been because my pen was new and I'd just made a mistake ordering a broad instead of a fine nib. They sent me back a nice note and a package full of F-C swag. Great good will on their part.

I have great respect for their company and their products. I have two Looms now and am looking for a good deal on an E-Motion. (Had to send one back to Endless Pens because it was trash.).

Got a Faber-Castell Loom with a steel broad nib and it's the smoothest fountain pen writing experience I've had yet.

I tried out a Loom at a pen meeting and was very pleased to find it a really smooth writing experience. :thumb:

I use a couple of Essentio, one F and one M for my EDC, and agree with the others: absolutely smooth writing.

But I'm thinking in bring the M to some nibmeister to convert into a stub...

I used to have two BASIC ( think they're calling it Essentio now ).

The carbon fiber one had to be replaced by Faber-Castell due to a manufacturing defect on a batch of them, where the grip was made slightly too small for their converters, causing the grip to crack. (which also caused confusion making people think they were cartridge-only pens).

Loved the nibs, but kind of found the design to be a bit back-heavy.

That black Essentio in carbon fiber you posted there is a handsome pen. I'm sorry they couldn't fix the problems with them.

The carbon fiber is back-heavy, yes. But the black alu I have is perfect... in fact I'm thinking in selling it and get another alu.

They did by sending a replacement barrel from the later batch they corrected for the diameter. (sorry if that was not mentioned before).

I have an Emotion and it is a bit hefty and can't post as it feels heavy. The nib is M and I found it is very wet and too smooth then,
I changed into a fine nib that writes with slight feedback on most of the paper I used, which is my preference.

Two quick questions to all Faber-Castellianers:
1. The FC Grip, what's the difference between the 2010 and 2011 model? Just colour schemes? And does it have a tripod-ed section as pronounced/exaggerated as the Safari?
(I ask because the Safari and it's Chinese homages don't work well with my grip, despite, irrespective or because I'm left-handed)
2. The BASIC/Essentio. Was the rename just a marketing response to the above mentioned manufacturing defects? And then, apparently only on the carbon models.
(I ask because some places have left-over stock of the Basic and are selling them somewhat cheaper than the Essentio. Some aren't)

A couple of Faber Castell models have been on my Jet Pens wish list for a while. Not because I need one, but because it's one well known brand that I don't have.

One of those wish list models is the Loom, but I rather like the look of this NEO Slim (https://www.jetpens.com/Faber-Castell-NEO-Slim-Fountain-Pen-Stainless-Steel-Matte-Medium/pd/25875). Some people don't like slim pens, but I'm quite comfortable with them. For example, I have a couple of the Montblanc Noblesse Oblige, and the NEO appears to be rather like those.

Does anyone have any experience with that model? Not saying I'll actually buy one, but it's possible.

I have a matt black & rose gold neo Slim. My verdict is OK but nothing special.

I was a bit worried that a convertor would'nt fit in as the barrel is so thin. One does, but only just with no spare room.

The section is very short, so you hold the barrel when writing, so with mine you are holding matt black so it's not slippy.

Here it is with a Sheaffer Slim Targa, MB Nobless & Parker 180.

I added a NEO in stainless steel to a Jet Pens order for some other things. I won't expect too much, just decent quality, and another brand in my agglomeration.

And I started reading about the Parker 180 and...

I was in such a rush to order my Loom, that I ordered MEdium when I wanted the Fine! Too bad you are in the UK or we could meet and swap!! :)
